Your most ‘satisfying’ purchase this year?

Karaoke machine for one of my grand daughters (age 5) Can't wait to get her parents response on Christmas Day - we aren't there of course this year.....

Next year will be the embroidery kit for when we are

Brilliant! 🤣🤣

My young niece loves to sing! Trouble is, she has a voice that sounds like a goose gargling iron filings. My brother in law thought it was hilarious to inflict her on the entire family a couple of years ago. I got even though.

Having been stalking for 2 years now and getting my feet wet ever time I go out with ordinary hiking boots I took the leap in August for the new season and got

CRISPI Hunter GTX Boots

I wish I had got them years ago they have transformed my experience of stalking and I would recommend them to anyone

Ah, just reminded me, an MDT Field chassis to replace the standard Tikka stock... I now imagine I'm Chris Kyle...

A made to measure 3-piece tweed suit that I (hopefully) will be getting married in next October 😅

The original tailor for my breeks and vest claimed that they couldn't get that tweed anymore - which I'm quite attached to now... They also refused to tell me what it was and which mill originally made it!

So spent 2 months rooting around the internet to try and find it - thinking I'd have to basically find bargain bin scraps of it to piece together enough for a suit...

Eventually found a retailer who had it in stock. Booked a fitting with the Sutherland Tweed Co. from up in Lairg. Was then idly scrolling through their website's selection of tweeds and went, wait a minute! That looks identical to my tweed!

They gave it a name, told me which mill it came from. Called up the mill (Lovats in Hawick), who very kindly sent me out a swatch FOC***. Confirmed a match and so now after a whole adventure, I am getting a full suit of it - and made at a significantly better price than Stewart Christie's... Even after a 1st class train ticket to and from Inverness...

***Whilst calling Lovat, they also told me that, no they definitely still deal with my original tailor... And yes, the tweed I was after is definitely a stock tweed and nothing one off/low volume... So very frustrated by that, as I had to spin a fair yarn as to why I wasn't able to go back to the original tailor!

What was your most satisfying shooting related purchase this year?

‘Satisfying’ defined here as - exceeded expectations & was even more enjoyable to own & use than anticipated.
That someone else may differ in their view of the product is irrelevant - only your perception matters. It could be a rifle or a pair of socks.

My most satisfying purchase was a Zeiss 8x32 Victory FL binocular.

This model was superseded in 2020 by the current 8x32 Victory SF model but in my view the current SF gives very little extra (it’s actually got slightly lower light transmission), at the cost of being a noticeably larger & heavier instrument.

I’d been looking for a good used Victory 8x32 FL for a while, seeing a few 10x32’s for sale but rarely the 8x32. The stars aligned this year & I found one on EBay in the box with all the bits, described ‘as new’. Frankly I doubt it’s been used, the straps were still folded in their bands; the lens covers had never been fitted, not a spec of dust on it. As pleasing as the perfect condition was, the most satisfying aspect is they are even nicer to use than I expected - and I had very high expectations. For me they are just right as regards size, ergonomics, optical performance & tactile experience.

I’ve got other Zeiss binoculars & I’ve experience with Swarovski & Leica products but the Zeiss Victory 8x32 FL’s are the ones which I now use for most purposes. They are superb by any standards but even better than that - a delight to own & use.

Definitely my most satisfying sporting purchase of the year.

Having already too many pairs of glasses, I was looking for something a little larger for the winter gloom than the 10/32 NL Pures which I adore, these came courtesy of @Woodlander. Very pleased with them.

Mine is my 1983 Hw77 in .22 flavour. Then 2 times Nikko Platinum scopes...so it looks like I'll have to purchase another 1980's classic air rifle for the other to be adorned on😬😬

Dream on mate! I get to do what I like on lots of land, but I'll never own any.
Never say never.
Just buy little bits at a time. It mounts up. Then you can sell several of the little bits all at once if the opportunity to buy one bigger bit crops up.

I like your optimism VSS.
I bid on 3 acres of agricultural just down the road from me a couple years ago... I dropped out at 100k... I went for 122k.. a lady is now living on there under the radar in a tiny shepherd's hut.
