Now as you all know I have blatant hatred of the 6.5 Creedmoor, but I will say I’ve just had a tribe of women come stalking here on CWD and one of the ladies was lucky enough to shoot an absolute belter of an old buck proper old warrior and I have just caped it off.

No I will say the lady in question who shot it did you a touch high, But it was a hurried shot at reasonable range of sticks but the bullet damage is by far the best damage I have seen yet for that calibre and I have just messaged her husband to find out what bullet it is!

For the first time I have seen the 6.5 Creedmoor produce acceptable chest shot bullet damage!!!

So even though I have a blatant hatred and most of that is fuelled from previous experience of clients who have just blown stuff up, but this even old stuck in the trenches stalker can be educated so on this occasion I will eat some humble pie!

So If you shoot a 6.5 creedmoor this is the bullet that I recommend you use

I’m sure you’re experienced enough to realise that any calibre can have disastrous performance if you use the wrong bullet in the wrong context.

Shoot a 130gr ballistic tip from a .270 into a roe deer at 50 yards, and you might as well just shove it into the bushes and go home.

100% over the years I’ve seen a lot of small and big stuff shot with wrong bullets but unfortunately the vast amount of stalkers have got this not in their brain that they have to shoot fast light bullets, all that does is create a mess!

Even with copper 140gn 6.5 Creedmoor, I’m certain would produce very acceptable damage!

I shot a Roebuck with a .270 140 grain Accubond that popped up 20 yards in front of a high seat, high neck & it severed it.

First deer I ever shot with a .270 was a small roe buck at 40 yards.

Shot went high, took out the spine and a chunk of the back. More or less cut the animal in half. It looked like a shark had taken a bit.

Bullet construction and impact velocity are the two factors that affect terminal performance the most. The 6.5 creedmoor is a mild chambering so really isn’t inherently hard on carcasses unless using frangible bullets. .243 and .270 are both inherently more abusive on carcasses if using like for like bullets.

My favourite bullet for the .270 was Nosler Partition 130gn
Currently on Hornady factory in the 6.5 PRC.

That’s describing them quite politely

No honestly I speak as I find that was a very presentable carcass even though it was high on the shoulder admittedly but bruising and blood under the flank was very minimal. I’ve now come to the conclusion. I may have been wrong about the queermoor maybe it’s the variety of ammunition that’s the problem and not the calibre

I love my gaymoor...managed my first red on Friday. Not a big animal (8 point stag) and only 70 or so yards away...S&B blue 120 grain copper through the shoulder and dropped on the spot...over the moon and thats the 6 done...and only took me 12 years

This worked out perfectly.....30 yards from a track and involved a downhill drag to the pickup

weeellll, I prefer the term "manly and rugged looking" to ugly, lol, and i am bald too! - that must be why i shoot a 7x57 and not a creed ,D haha

Well actually i do shoot a late 1800ies pendant to the creed (the 6.5x57) but reckon i can keep doing that without a man bun, or....... might the classic older, but by now semi obscure calibers, have passed into ultra hipster territory, and i now need an elaborate beard growth and grooming protocol, only wearing home made clothing made out of organic fibers and drinking home brewed beer solely, to be able to shoot it?
