You may have seen that the Labour government are proposing a blanket ban on the use of E-Collars, Anti Barking Collar and Dog Containment fences throughout the UK.

This group has been developed to provide a community based environment for those who use E-Collars responsibly, ethically and morally.

Whether you’re a professional dog trainer, an owner who has gained successful outcome using this tool or perhaps you’re considering ecollar training and needing more information, we invite you to join us in this non judgmental space.

The group has been created by several professional UK dog trainers .

I look forward to Sir Quare squaring up to Lady Ff whilst the hounds assess his suitability for their next chase/meal…

You might like to consider changing the title of your organisation from National Association to English Association. Wales banned the use of such collars in 2010 and banning legislation is at an advanced stage in Scotland already. I don't know about Northern Ireland.

At the moment 3 out of 4 countries that make up the UK have no anti e-collar or aversion training law.
We will keep it as national, there are over 2000 people in that FB group and if anyone has any doubts about the efficacy of e-collar training, head over to that group and read the stories from all sections of society testifying as to how their dogs were turned around. Much of it backed up by video evidence.

This is not accurate. The Westminster government have made no such proposal. In the Animal Welfare Strategy Paper published before Christmas proposals were made to act in several areas but on e-collars the only committment was to consult about their use. The Westminster government is also not in a position to make a blanket ban throughout the UK as it is a devolved matter. Wales has already banned e-collars. In Scotland the SNP government has also committed to hold further consultation.

What I would also say is that even though you may not use an E-Collar with your dog, do not think this does not apply to you. The people driving this are looking for a system similar to some other countries within Europe where even slip leads are outlawed!
Definitely only the thin edge of a wedge if a ban does go through, but no ban is currently being proposed.

Good suggestion. NAPET were asked what nation their title applied to in their facebook group.and did not reply. True about Wales. It is not accurate to say that legislation is at an advanced stage in Scotland. The Scottish Government Animal Welfare Team have assured us that there are currently no plans to bring in a ban, and in April last year the government stated that they will conduct further consultation about e-collar use and no information or dates for that consultation have yet been announced.

NAPET are already in consultation regarding the best way to stave off an e-collar ban in Scotland.
Sorry but ideology is not enough these days.

There is no imminent threat of a government ban of e-collars in Scotland. We do NOT think the best way to "stave off" any ban is too suggest regulation that requires all use of e-collars to be supervised by professional dog trainers and onlty as a last resort which is what NAPET claim to have proposed to Westminster Government. We realise that NAPET intend to control who is accredited as supervising e-collar trainer which would appear to present a conflicts of interest and division between trainers. Far from consulting with us, You (Dogtra UK) and NAPET have blocked us on facebook .

That last sentence is sad, i assume they have their reasons but infighting will make you all weaker going forward

I agree, but when a board member of NAPET is warned not to have any contact with the Scottish government by one man who is not the official representative of dog trainers in Scotland, who goes under several aliases and seems to take great pleasure in engaging in argumentative public spats then there is no wonder why he and the at least 3 aliases that we know of were banned.
