Seen couple threads in about shell Vpower and is it worth it etc

Being semi rural NE jockistsn ... our local shell is now replaced by a BP run by Pakistanis and nothing but complaints about meterage and not getting correct amount

The other station is an Esso but never has the premium higher octane stuff In

So what youy guys using for diesel in terms of aftermarket additives to help your engines and where you buying it ?

Cheers

I use Power Service in the white bottle, I have no idea if this can be obtained in the UK. Well over 20 years using it.

Use branded diesel not Asda etc.

Turbo vanes & EGR soot since the sulphur changes.

If you have EGR issues or overboost/shut down issue, fill the fuel filter with FORTE diesel additive ( yellow cap ) start & run. Normally used by trade so might have to buy online. They are NOT all the same.

If you can’t get to the filter run the tank down until light on, full bottle in tank then drive & give it some welly especially up hill when you can get the turbo blowing longer.
When the fuel light flashes top up to quarter tank & use normally for next couple of general trips.

The branded fuel does run better & the one you refer to will burn better/cleaner again.

I use branded & a full tank of shell every couple of months.

Interesting, solid user of Tesco's, Sainsbury's and indeed on occasion ASDA, wherever its cheapest. Periodically I throw a bottle of the one on the left in a full tank (middle of Lidl) and every month or so the one on the right (off Amazon). Quite happy with mpg and dpf purging doing quite frankly, a lot of miles stalking.

Forte diesel additive, get it from Roughtrax, as nobody has sent the local agent for ages (was trade only)

I use a 50/50 mix of redex and two stroke, about 50ml per tank,
it stops the cold diesel rattle, lubes the injector pump etc,
my freelander is on 203k and running like a sewing machine,

I may have jinxed it now,

I tend to ensure I use a good oil for servicing, I made the mistake this time around of using up some free to me Tescos oil all new from a friends dad who passed away, fully synthetic, it has really adversely affected performance and fuel economy to the point I am thinking of ditching it and re-filling, loss of around 5 mpg. also use Redex avery 5 tanks ish to keep injectors, pump etc free of deposits.

Go on then… does it mix well and is that 50ml added to a full tank? I have a Freelander and it’s starting to sound as though it’s in pain first thing in the morning…. Fine after that initial startup.

Hello, Is that for Diesel or Petrol as where you put in fuel tank ??
I have used Red X red in my motors over many many years and feel it makes a difference, Starting and general engine care, My latest motor, A little Ford has always run well, I just bought 2 bottles from Lidl £5, I remember using Slick 50 when it was new to the market in the late 1970s in an old Maxi then going to North Wales , What a difference it made

yes it mixes well, try it, I will be surprised if you dont notice the difference the day after you put it in,

Hi.
FWIW.

My vehicle uses the Mercedes V6 Diesel unit. I use Shell V-Power whenever possible. It also gets a shot of Millers EcoDiesel. I get the Millers from Halfords or Opie Oils.

I have had my vehicle for 11 years, and never had the EGR or Turbo vane issues that this engine is known for. No smoke from exhaust when using full boost uphill. My vehicle does not have a DPF.
