6mm flobert anyone?

An old pal of mine fitted a 2 litre V4 Corsair engine in his mk3 cortina, just to be different. It was actually slower than the 1600 Kent engine that it replaced. The V4 was low revving but torquey by comparison.

They are not so common anymore in the shot type, whereas those with a single bullet are sold in most hunting shops.
The shot cartridges in 6mm are still made, but most people who want to shoot vermin use the regular 9mm Flobert shotgun cartridge (tin or steel shot - lead shot was banned more than 20 years ago), which is available in all stores here in Denmark.

These things were commonly used in pubs in the days before darts came along. They were usually fired in single shot smoothbore pistols pretty much like bell target shooting. A friend of mine thought it would be a good idea to try one in his smoothbore 22rf in his living room. The little bb went through the yellow pages, through the settee and took a lump of plaster out of the wall. His mrs was highly impressed! We ran a few through the chrono and think we averaged around 30ft/lb.

That sounds very true, they go out at 240 M/S (785 FPS) from our old 6mm. That will be around 40-45 joule.

Shot my first deer with one, emptied out shot, cut case down to half. Filled it with powder from an extra two cartridges and cast a lead ball. Highly dangerous but it worked. Caught by the Earl's keeper, never charged, but black and blue from the belting my keeper Grandad gave me. I had shamed him as the keeper who caught me was his pal. Apparently he had watched me and couldn't believe I would shoot it in the park. I was 13 at the time.😪
I had the 9mm version whilst still at school. I made a bullet mold for it in metalwork class and cast some heads for it.
I removed the shot from the brass case and inserted one of my newly cast heads. Hey presto I'm now the proud owner of a 9mm rifle.
I fired a round down the garden, it keyholed the fence went through the neighbours greenhouse and I've no idea which part of their property was the back stop.
After changing my pants I never tried that experiment again.
I also made a butt plate for it in brass, if anyone owns the gun now.
