Cogswell & Harrison

I am trying to date a Cogswell & Harrison, Konor, side by side shotgun. The serial number is 80084.

I understand that serial number dates are in Vol 1, of Nigel Brown's trilogy. If anyone has a copy, and would be good enough to look it up for me, It would be most appreciated.

I did send a request to C&H via their website, but received a reply stating that, due to Covid, the email address was no longer monitored.

The serial numbers in Brown's Vol 1 only reach as far as 66,632. There's no additional information in the third volume either.

Thank you very much for having a look for me. I'll see if I can speak to someone at C&H to morrow.

See this:

This will at least tell you if before of after 1954 approx. Then if London after 1973 it will have LP over the last two year digits. So LP over 76 will be 1976. That now gives you a twenty yeat 1954 to 1973 window and after that a precise year. Before 1954 you have the previous change in 1925 so, again, a thirty year window.

Thank you. I do not have the gun to hand, only poor quality pictures.

Birmingham proof by the look of it.

It handles beautifully.

The link I posted in Rifles and Calibres on SD will tell you the "secret" Birmingham date codes. I think that the gun has had a re-proof? In which case the action flats will show both the Birmingham re-proof mark and the London mark?

Thank you once again. I shall try to get some high res images of the flats.

At one time it was Sam Cummins of Interarms. Back once upon a time I bought a French MAB P-15 from them when they were on Picadilly.

If I am reading this correctly, it dates from 1967.

Many thanks to all, for your help and input.
