Site won't let me upload the video shooting steel at 400m
Who cares ! 1200-1500 rounds is a lot of deer and a few foxes .Curious, how many rnds on the barrel?
I ask because we have seen throat wear be the cause of the issue with the hornady bullets.Who cares ! 1200-1500 rounds is a lot of deer and a few foxes .
Then just buy a new barrel and start over![]()
Hmm, I read that thread as most see degradation about 8 to 900 rnds which is inline with known competitors. Hell, I pull my 6cm barrels @1k rnds because of the constant load tuning required once the throat starts to go. Barrels are cheaper than components.Mine has only had around 150 rounds down it . From what i have read the 6.5 PRC is good for 1200-1500 but who know for sure .
Just found this , seems some people on your side are getting over 2000 out of there PRC s
But most around 1000-1500 again depending on how there shot
6.5 PRC barrel life
Just wondering what barrel life numbers can expected running a 6.5 PRC at 3050 Fps in F class using H1000 with 153.5's and 147'sforum.accurateshooter.com
Mine is only used for stalking and a few foxes so the barrel does not get chance to get hot with about 20 - 40 shots max per month .Hmm, I read that thread as most see degradation about 8 to 900 rnds which is inline with known competitors. Best of luck, and good shooting!
100grain eld vt in my prc 3608fps using n550 24" tube
yes mateThats will be an 8 twist will it?
I have one....I ask because we have seen throat wear be the cause of the issue with the hornady bullets.
I've never had a 6.5x284 barrel make 1200 rnds.
But rate of fire is a thing..![]()
Im not that fortunate lol, when the throat starts to go I change em. Maybe its just me, I like to believe that when I miss or shoot poorly its my fault and not the tool. Perhaps we have different levels of what's acceptable.I have one....
Bought used from a chap on here.
High hundreds through it when I got it 3 years ago
Used for range and competition, as well as fairly active stalking.
Range days and comps can easily see 50-60 rounds in fairly quick succession
Suspect I have put well over 6-700 rounds a year in my ownership
Still shoots better than I do

The previous barrel on your rifle got to about 2200 rounds and still shot .5moa when it was changed, I just didn’t want to go into a new culling season with that many rounds on the barrel. I found rs70 very easy on barrels with moderate but not stupidly fast loads.Doubt it
Use mine at 1100m...
Pretty achievable with the right Powder.I think your struggle to get 3200 fps out of your CM , at those speeds your be running 110% flat out
What powder are you using ?
Be interested know how you get on and wish you well with it![]()
They may be in the US, you’re £700-1100 here including proofing.Hmm, I read that thread as most see degradation about 8 to 900 rnds which is inline with known competitors. Do bullets behave differently over there than they do over here?Wow, good on you. I have seen more eld's come apart out of 6.5 prc's than I can count.
Not arguing, but its a thing over here.
Just had a look as the website was down yesterday, of the 15 powders Hodgdon list for that bullet only 2 are under 3300 fps with maximum loads, the majority are nudging the 3350 to 3400 mark.I think your struggle to get 3200 fps out of your CM , at those speeds your be running 110% flat out
