All of it!What velocity did you get out of a 32in 7mm PRC?
I'm looking to either 300 norma mag or 300 prc
This for ELR
Now I know that I'm not looking for a hunting rifle so I have no interest in a short barrel - however I would have thought that there must be a great deal of unburned powder in a 20'' barrel ??
I'd be looking for a 27'' to 30'' barrel for my needs
I do, however have medium calibres (9.3 x 62 and 404 JEFF) which are used for stalking / hunting / stopping
They are 26'' barrels - which are just fine to lug around
Yes. Complete waste of the calibre.Meeting with gun maker tomorrow.
If I go 20inch barrel plus a mod that would be perfect practicality vs weight vs balance in my opinion.
Will I then be giving away loads of fps vs a 24inch barrel and therefore defeating the object of getting this gun in the first place...
Thoughts?
Define issue - burning powder in the mod is completely wasteful and dirty - potentially dangerous over time with carbon build up etc. What the mod is made of is sort of irrelevant. If the question is will titanium deal with it better than steel, the answer is - most likely. But that is not the point. All the powder should burn in the barrel to get the best speed from the calibre/barrel length. If you want noisy flashy and slow then go for it. If you have to have a 20in barrel then choose a different calibre. Is burn within a titanium moderator an issue?
Can’t say fairer than that… 24inch it is.Define issue - burning powder in the mod is completely wasteful and dirty - potentially dangerous over time with carbon build up etc. What the mod is made of is sort of irrelevant. 300 PRC needs a magnum action to be loaded to its full length.a rem700 L/A will do you , you could pay a fortune for a custom action if you want but it's only because you want something nice, you won't see a difference in accuracy between a custom action and a trued 700 L/A unless you are a top and i mean top level shooter
i built my 300rum on a 700 L/A , i'd recommend having a sako extractor fitted for the big cases and up your rail screw size because of recoil
