CenterParcs Cull?

Having just got back from a family break at CenterParcs Woburn, it was my first time being properly face to face with a new deer species for me... Muntjac!

I'm East Sussex based, and it's all Fallow and Roe. My shooting buddy sent me a pic from his driveway cam last week, with a munty. Very exciting as he lives right opposite our shooting ground. They're getting closer 🤣

Anyway, I digress. Having been there for 5 days, the place was absolutely buzzing with Muntjac. They'd literally walk across the path in front of you.

It struck me that they'd probably never be able to cull with residents on site, mostly with kids. It was also very evident that they were causing a lot of damage. Every tree and Bush had been destroyed at browsing height. Every new tree had a tree guard on it. 2ft high. Pointless. They were up on hind legs destroying every bit of new growth.

Does anyone know if these places have culls?

Just curious really.

If they do, it will be a well kept secret, but think of this situation from a non stalking point of view, the trees are likely covered by a grant or carbon offset scheme, and more importantly from a visitors perpective the majority of people going there will think its amazing to "see deer in the wild"

and don’t forget that muntjac all count as “baby deer” which is even better 🤣

They absolutely will. But no one will ever know about it

I shoot rabbits on a caravan site. No big deal is made of it , anyone questions it it’s explained to them and I just bash on quietly
I imagine this is the same

Centre parcs Woburn is pretty much ground zero for munties - they originally escaped from Woburn abbey park.
I have no idea if they cull on the holiday park but everyone around it will cull heavily

I can't see when they would manage ....
Folk wandering about all hours thru woods on site etc....be an HSE logistical nightmare ...
Only time I can see it done is IF and when they close to the public for maintenance

Having an arrangement with surrounding land owners to cull any that come out of the park area, all you need to do is put up a few feeders to draw them out. On park grounds use of cage traps and moderated .410 would be very discreet.

I'm aware of a team who do complicated animal management in difficult situations. Often deer but sometimes foxes
Town centres rec grounds. Sports stadia. Schools. Roundabouts. Urban Community woodland which have forest schools, doggers, green gyms etc
And certain high profile public buildings

Often it is pair stalking. One to stalk and one to constantly look for people with third set of eyes on thermal drone overhead.

Fascinating hearing about it. Will go to any lengths for complete discretion

Every case collected, end bullet location confirmed so noone will ever come across it. Grass sprayed and cleaned after to remove blood. Sticks and rifles broken down and brought out in sports duffels

Can't imagine centre parcs would pay the sort of costs that come with that though

I imagine for folk with surrounding permissions it's grest if you want numbers !

I just can't see stalking on parc itself with density of folk and activities ....imagine media headlines if someone hurt on their parc due to stalking deer..... never mind just if someone was seen wandering about with a rifle ..some holidaying anti would have field day
