Future Of The UK Moderator Market & Moderator Pricing?

Following the long awaited news that moderators are no longer on ticket, what do you think about the future of the market in the UK for moderators. Now we no longer need a variation and can even order them online and have them sent in the post will you buy and own more moderators? It will be easier to sell and change moderators, will you buy one model for the range and one model for stalking / foxing? Will any of these changes impact UK pricing for moderators?

I can certainly see a few more moderators in my future!

I would guess the nearest most recent thing is when CO2 pistols came off s1 and on to free sale. That the range of products hugely increased and we saw premium producst that still maintain value and always have willing buyers, mid-range products that suit the budget conscious and the cheap end products that get people started before they move up to something of better performance. As far as secondhand goes a premium product will always find a buyer but the cheap stuff will likely struggle. By illustration there's a fair few CO2 Colt 1911A1 lookalikes and some, the Swiss Arms, are sublime. Others are cor bloody blimey awful! It'll be the same with moderators...there will always be a top end name or make.

I contacted a gun shop on Monday wanting a Wildcat bridge section but the gentleman was reluctant to send it to me via post. He said he still needs to see my FAC.

Given that changing moderators changes barrel harmonics, no, won't be buying more mods.
Yes they "do/ can" impact harmonics - for the better ! Just test and make the adjustment on your scope as needed the once . I think its a great thing , FEOs are not going to waste time dealing with an item that only holds any more danger to the public IF IT IS USED AS A COSH !

I'm hoping that Wildcat can go back to how they used to be, offering parts to change calibres/threads without having to jump through hoops.
If the manufacturers don’t want to sell component parts separately there’ll be an opportunity for others to manufacture and sell bits that will fit mods. already out there.
I remember having to send a moderator via an RFD to Jackson’s to get a thread changed.
That will be a thing of the past now.

Not quite sure on the technical theory behind that. But from a simpleton point of view, I develop a load, with the mod, and stick to that. Any change in what's screwed on alters things.

The engineering term is thermal expansion. You fire your gun, the barrel warms up grows a tiny bit longer/ goes out of true, the next shot is subject to slightly different harmonics. Does it matter much? In some guns yes, in many no.

That’s part of the picture, barrel harmonics is the other, barrels vibrate on firing, alter the mass of the sound moderator or position and you will change the harmonics and hence potential it poi.
Hence the barrel fitted type of chronographs could do likewise.

As you still need the FAC to buy or possess a Mod its going to be interesting to see how Wildcat and the police deal with that issue. Will we be able to buy parts without an FAC or will sellers like Wildcat be able to accept a pdf copy by email.

He was right, proof of FAC is required and as an RFD he wouldn’t risk it. Needs to see it in original form, recent high profile case of a fake ticket shown that
