Crime and Policing Act 2026 - What You Need To Know
The Crime and Policing Act 2026 introduces key changes for deer managers and landowners, including new rules on sound moderators and trespass
What i mean is they seemingly had no idea of the commencement date. I know i am in Yorkshire, but we have got electricity now so can keep up reasonably well.BASC have posted about this for years, helped make it happen, and put together and released full official guidance yesterday, the first org to do so.
You still need a FAC to purchase or possess a Mod so it will be interesting to see any guidance from the police as to how dealers can deal with mail order. Will emailing a copy of the FAC be acceptable?
I can’t honestly see what all the excitement is about, I’ve had an fac long enough that o can remember the days before moderators became legal!
It wasn’t a hassle to get one then and even before now it wasn’t a hassle to get one so what’s the crack?

You forgot the painful partThis week - go on the internet and find a dealer with appropriate mod, email copy of FAC, wait for postman to arrive with your new mod.
I can see your point in terms of those who actually write/print the conditions of each Certificate as finally approved by the FEO, but the lengthy delays we see surely arise from the process that determines the fitness of an Applicant to be granted a FAC?The one big positive I can see from this is less work for the licensing teams so hopefully that will improve their performance on new applications, renewals and variations.

Which is probably where they are anyway....I think I need a new cabinet for my spare mods.![]()
Ooo just thought they don't need to be locked away. Need an empty draw in the kitchen then.
You shoot it without, until your 141 comes through, gun still got bang without it, just louderSo, same scenario this week and last week, you have a mod that wears out, say a hole appears in it.
Last week - you have to travel to a RFD, dispose of the mod with them and both of you have to inform your FLD this has happened. You then need to fill in a variation and send it, and you’re FAC, back to your FLD so the variation can be completed and wait for this to happen (this may be days, it may be months, depends where you live). Once you’ve got your FAC back, you need to now find a RFD selling a suitable replacement, no guarantee your local one will have one, and then drive to whichever RFD has the mod you need (or post them FAC, pay them about £35 and pay your local RFD about £35 quid to receive it). Finally, you fill in another form to tell your FLD you’ve done this.
This week - go on the internet and find a dealer with appropriate mod, email copy of FAC, wait for postman to arrive with your new mod.
Can’t possibly see what the difference is![]()

What do you think we used to do?
Are you just deliberately argumentative or do you actually enjoy being inconvenienced?
My land owners would soon kick me off if I took every shot unmoderated.
