Thermos cleaning?

The old school way of cleaning decanters or things you can't reach the inside of was to use detergent, lead shot and a good shake! Probably not advisable to use lead shot any more.... maybe bismuth would work?

Fill it with coca cola? Milton, baby bottle cleaner is good. But why remove the seasoning from a good flask?

I dont put tea or coffee in the thermos anymore only boiling water, i find it far better to use the ready made coffee & cappuccino sachets now they take up no extra room i find the cappuccino ones taste great......... and no thermos cleaning after

Same here. I take a small tub with tea bags and suger, a small jar of milk in winter or powdered milk in summer. Far better than stuff brewed hours before and I haven't had to clean a flask in years.

Milton tablets work very well, too well as it it will etch the stainless in the end, making cleaning even harder.

Half fill with hot water, add dish washer tab and shake vigourously, let soak, shake again and you are done. Also works on decanters.

IJust put boiling water in flask use 2 or 3 in 1 coffee or a teabag soup or scouse in food flask

leave with a teaspoon of table salt in the bottom once clean as this prevents any build up of smell.

You have to eat a pound of dirt before you die...so don't panic.

You should see the state of some mugs at work...& yes I see people using them & they are still with us!

Funny thing is that when they have used the mug they just plonk it right next to the sink...I guess they hope it will jump in & wash itself??

THE VERY BEST WAY TO DO IT :

Bleach or Bleaching liquor , about half a cup in the flask and fil with water cold or warm. Leave about 15/20 min and it's brand new ( no shaking, boiling, etc....). Brilliant for glass flasks. Stainless and bleach are a bit dangerous, don't leave it to long inside. After that clean well with clear water , no smells or whatever.
