Deerstalking Fair, 23/24 March 2013

I totally agree with this comment, I bought 2 tickets, which were not cheap, and I think it is only fair that the winning ticket is drawn, and the winner is identfied by some means, not every raffle you enter requires you to be present when drawn. I think a better, fairer method should be used

I just hope ticket holder 275 never finds out he had a £ 1500 pair of binos for ten mins.....

Raffles are just that, a bit like the lotto really, the more tickets are sold , the more benefit or cost is covered, your chance of holding the winning number decreases by the same degree, I always buy raffle tickets & then forget about them & enjoy whatever function I'm attending.......... So you didn't win!... So what? it's just a raffle, didn't spoil the visit for me!.

So if you won the lotto then 10 mins later they change the numbers you would be happy?? hmmm i think not,,, all i said was if ticket holder 275 had to leave or had other issues then there should have been some form of contact with regards claiming ones prize ,,, if there not bothered about claiming it fair enough ,,,,

Most of what you say I agree with I always get a couple of strips at my local rugby club £1 a strip, usually for a bottle of wine or mixed grill etc I've even been known to give bottles back to be re raffled being a none drinker but a £1500 pair of bino's is a whole different matter. As for So what? it's just a raffle, didn't spoil the visit for me!. tells me you never had the ticket number 275 so an easy statement to make.

But I went away not caring what the number was going to be!............ Now the Lotto!, that would be a law suit!!!!!:D

I think if it went down that track (law suit) im sure there is gambling laws to protect such things happening a raffle is the FIRST name out the hat not the second, i understand its a raffle fun etc but the organizers must accept that there was a mistake.... they are making sure to inform them today at the front door that you must be present at the draw as i heard the them,,,,,but they never said anything yesterday when i bought tickets or all the people i seen either .....

I comprehend what you're saying but would you feel the same if you were the holder of 275. We all buy raffle tickets to give to specific causes and probably 99.9% don't even think of winning but to have won and lost within a few minutes appears to be a little harsh and I wouldn't be sure how legal it'd be either.

There are gambling laws in england that cover raffles and a licence is required to do so, not sure about north of the border.

Just for your record it was not made clear to us when we enterd with regards to the draw, And why then did they take are tickets with name etc on back when we had to leave around 12

I have to agree with this nothing was mentioned about having to be present when the raffle was drawn when I bought my ticket..... But what's done is done, if it was me and it was drawn while 'I was putting stuff in my car' I would not be too impressed!!!!!

just my opinion

Although I wasn't told yesterday about the rules of the raffle it was pretty clear to me that if I didn't hang about I'd defiantly not win but if I hung about I was in with a small chance .So although I've never won anything in my life the fact that I was still there gave me a chance ,I was a bit gutted 309 never came out tho :)

The person who bought the first ticket drawn may have failed to collect their prize but at the end of the day they didn't have the binos when they came in to lose, they only lost their £5.

You cant expect people to stand about all day waiting for something that may not even be claimed.

If the people running the event hadn't give out a second number and no one came forward after the event to claim the first there would be people on here whining wanting their fiver back because no prize was given out so really you are putting the organizers in the very unfair position in which they cannot win.

If you know there is going to be a draw and dont wait around for it to be held then tough ****, you only have yourself to blame.

I really enjoyed the event, I attended the best practice butchery, rudi's talk and visited a number of stands. I found it refreshing that it was very moderately priced to get in and that all of the stands were relevant to deer and stalking and not filled with the usual tinkers trying to sell you poor quality tat.

If the event is held again next year I will certainly go back and a big thank you to those who organised it.

If I had been the holder of ticket no 272 I must admit it would have felt like someone had ****ed on my Christmas presents , but I would have got over it . It was just one of those things.

Some people need to get a life if you don't hang about for the draw tuff, next time don't buy a ticket if your not going to wait for the draw simple !
As for people moaning i wont be going next time there was nothing for the misses ,next time go on your own or do you need somebody to hold your hand it was clearly advertised as a DEER STALKING FAIR the clues in the title no new sinks or washing machines for sale !

I went yesterday and must say I really enjoyed it congrats to all the organizers a job well done .I have never met so many people I know at a show before. The atmosfear was great and the people so friendly special comment for the lads on the butchery demo who even though I was on my own chatted and gave me a demo of my own first class.I will be going to the next one once again well done .

Well done guys. Had a great time at the show. Met a few fellow SD members for a chat. Wallet a bit lighter after purchasing a few accessories. Will definitely be back next year if the show is on again.

Standing ovation to everyone involved.

Cheers
