Was out a weak past Saturday saw this chap limping.By the time I got down to him he had vanished. So I arranged with kev.rem700 to come out on sunday with his dog to try to locate him but no joy.we found his track and followed it to where he had crossed the river an over the boundry. Kev and myself were out this morning and clocked him again this time we managed to dispatch him.

We didnt think he would have lasted the winter as he was quite thin.

Well done bigscott looks a good one to take out. They never stop surprising us with what they can recover from.

Thanks lads . Its put my mind at ease after last week thinking it was an RTA or an injury during the rut. Have never seen it all year on my ground and was feeding with a doe. Didnt know it had 3 feet and 1 corenet until I had dropped him......scott

Scott. I shot a very similar wee buck. I had seen it a couple of times before and the third time I saw it, it climbed very awkwardly up out of a burn. It clearly wasn't right, so I stalked it and shot it. Its antlers were like knitting needles. The missing foot had been cleanly removed and was fully healed up.

Nice one Scott, good one to get, interested to see the head once boiled out, just to see what the busted coronet looks like.

I didnt even keep it moose. Disposed of it with the 3 feet at the knackers but it looked as if it had come off in soft velvet as the skin was completely healed. ..scott

Scott, it is a guess, but i think maybe more likely an RTA at some point, as he has completely lost an antler, had he just lost a leg from some kind of trauma then other antler would have grown, all be it a bit crooked, and from the pics the other coronet looks a bit smashed up as well, so guess he's had a dunt on the head as well, thats why i was interested to see the cleaned off head.
I'm guessing the beast went to the gamedealer and you didn't butcher yourself (Davie keeping you busy enough this weekend butchering lol) to see if there were any other internal injuries like broken ribs.

I quite like doing a bit of CSI on them, trying to guess what caused the injuries, but really only the buck himself will know.
