Guessing ive got it wrong now as this mans usually on the money.

Nah fella, you are only 3 points less and if the actual antlers are poor quality then you could be closer. It looks dense from the pics but unless your weighing it its very hard to tell.

I am soon to have it CIC measured, so anyone fancy having a guess on how many points this will make.

it was shot in North Yorkshire on 26/08/14.

It weighed 625gms freshly cleaned (not cut). Length 21cm, span 10cm.

Now over 90 days since it was cleaned, it has fully dried out and now weighs 580gms.

I will post the CIC score sheet next weekView attachment 49585View attachment 49586View attachment 49589View attachment 49587View attachment 49588.

Thanks for looking

Thanks for all the replies, some very good guesses.

Have some of you have used the Swedish `Quick Fix Formula?

This would be 580 - 90 x 0.23 + 20 = 132.7 points

The official CIC score is 132 points.

This is my first medal head and I am pleased it made Gold.View attachment 49720

I am not a trophy hunter.
There are now a lot of roe close to my home.

A local farmer friend invited me early this year to control the roe population on his farm as he had noticed a big increase in recent years.
Fifteen outings resulted in nine roe including this buck.

Got to agree there. Still a lot of weight for short antlers. Sticking my neck out at 142.4 CIC.

Ach! Forgot to take off the 90g in my calcs. Numpty. I've not used that swedish formula but seems to give an ok guide.

Got a bit geeky with this when having a look at a few cic certificates. Only thing i couldn't really guess was the volume while it was drying out so had a look to see if there was a common ratio between weight and volume. Found that if you take the weight of the full skull and multiply by 0.67 it gives u a value pretty close to the measured volume. In your case 580 x 0.67 = 388.6. Pretty close to your measured 390.

Would be interested to know if this works out on other folks measured heads. Without hijacking this thread of course!:-D

great head by the way.
