Cast red stags

To me that looks like a relatively young stag in its first year.
The older big bodied mature stags will be the first ones to cast. But there way off doing that just yet..
Be nice to hear the opinions off the two resident forum oricles on this subject 🤣

Can you download the fullsize image to your phone and then share that (download button on bottom of Zeiss app). Hard to tell from that screenshot but I'd agree that I don't think that's an old boy. I think we're a good few weeks off yet.

Sure its not a hummel?
I think it could be that why I put this post up to see if anyone else seen cast stags so I can rule that one out is it does seem very early but this season on the reds have been a very stranger one
As in December I was shooting hind with fully formed calfs inside and still seeing stags covering hind

Had a similar post myself recently. Spotted a stag with no antlers and appeared like he had already cast but think looking again he has probably not set his first antlers yet and at the weekend two decent stags were still out knocking the **** out of each other and chasing a a few hinds.

I wouldnt say its a young animal due to the size of the body
Body compared to this young animal

@Sheamus could i ask why you think the spiker in the second pic is older than the one in the first pic?
From the pictures the first stag looks to have a more mature body weight and considerably thicker neck and mane. Surely this suggests and older animal than in the second photo?
I could be heading for a fall here chaps.. I'm giving my opinion before the two forum Oricles have give there verdict. This could be trouble for me ,the post could well be deleted, censored or completely removed. I'd do hope you understand this..
But ill make an attempt to explain. First picture stag in my opinion has a shorter face, heavy neck hair. Features often related to a staggie in its first year. Not in hard antler or displaying antler growth. Certainly not in mature form.
Second spiker stag, typical straight hard antler, quite lean, longer face in my opinion.
I do quite a few of both so I know that the second stag is worth more money than the first. So the second stag would be the first to get it.
What do you reckon to my evaluation our Rudd 🤔
