£2k to spend on a scope - what would you buy?

Scmidt & Bender 2.5 - 10 x 56 illuminated Zenith - you won't want for more, they are a cracking piece of kit, shop around and pocket a fair wad from 2k

Have my 2K scope already, Kahles 624i. Weighs only about 2 oz more than my S&B Zenith 3-12x50.
Possibly the best scope I have ever looked through. Mechanics are brilliant too. In my opinion classes better than S&B 5-25.

I have use the Swar Z6 and a cheaper Lueopold but own a Schmidt and Bender 3-12 x 50 illuminated and it really really is a great bit of kit and reasonably priced. takes a beating as well.

Have to say I'm leaning toward the Zeiss 6-24x56. My reasoning is that it's probably going to go on a rifle that has interchangeable barrels, namely .22-250 and either .270 or 30.06. So I want a quality optic that's good for stalking and foxing.Plus, it's my 40th later this year and evrybody likes spoiling themself once in a while! Thanks for all the comments - keep them coming, particularly you Swaro fans as that Z6i is better looking than my Mrs!

I have the victory and haven't looked through anything better day or night under lamp

I bought the Z6i (2nd gen) 2.5-15x56 because it is the absolute best, i defy anyone to say otherwise :).

you will not be disappointed but you may settle for something inferior and be gutted forever-more.

Over the years I've owned or used about every scope going, currently own a Swarovski Av 6-18x50, PV 4-12x50, Zeiss varipoint 2.5-10x50 ill, S&B 8x56 and a Z6i 2.5x12x56.
The Z6i totally blows the others away in low light, eye relief and fov when I first use the others it feels like I'm looking through a smartie tube after the Z6i.
Down side is its a big lump and I dont like the sticky out bit but hopefully the MK2 will be better.
If I was given a choice of any scope money no object I'd go Z6 everytime.

I have owned in this order the obligatory S&B 8x56, Swaro 4-16x50 PV, Zeiss Victory 3-12x56, Zeiss 6-24x56, Swaro Z6i 2-12x50 X2 and I settled on the Z6i 2.5-15x56BT.

Personally I find the functionality, reticles, and the FOV of the Z6i scopes better than the Zeiss.

The next scope I buy will be a Gen2 Z6i 2.5-15x56 BT.

I had the zeiss 6-24 and the z6i, against each other in Sportsmans, the zeiss felt much heavier, and to my eye didnt seem as clear/sharp as the z6i,

its the z6 on my 270wsm, and the z6i on my 308 now. (both 2.5-15x56 )

Thats how much I rate them.

Wellthe Z6i Mk3 2.5-25 x 56 is out of stock and the delivery time is quoted as 9 weeks. Took a look through a Mk1 Z6 today and was very impressed with the eye relief, even compared to my S&B. Decisions, bloody decisions!!!!!!!!

Mk3 Gaz?

You mean gen 2 2.5-15x56?

2 options for you.. Try Cluny county optics.. his prices are usually unbelievably good! Then you can call Chris (call him, don't just look at the web site prices) at Swillington Shooting supplies who will do his very best to beat any price out there!!!!

I ended up getting my Gen 2 from Swillington... saved a bloody fortune!

2.5-10x48 Docter, and spend the rest on diesel for my L200, which is where the majority of my money seems to be going these days :(

Get a pm2 25 mag,if you want to be really impressed look at pm2 50 mag model,it's astonishing mate

I have a PMII 5-25x56 with MSR reticule above my TRG.. Awesome tactical/target scope but useless for stalking, too heavy, bulky, complicated... Why would you want 90 moa of adjustment on a stalker.. A hunting scope needs to be light, sleek and simple... Point and shoot almost, the last thing you want to be doing when you have a deer in the crosshairs is thinking about scope settings.

The 10-50x56 was developed for bench rest shooting hugely ott for anything else! The targets on Stickledown look nice through them though!

The optical quality of my PMII is no different to my Z6i. However, the illumination, field of view and eye relief on the Z6i are FAR superior to the PMII. The reticule info, adjustment and solid build of the PMII are FAR superior to the Z6i.

Different beasts designed and built for different purposes... Use the right tool for the job and you won't go wrong!

Been offered a price on the Zeiss 6-24 x 56 that is £300 cheaper than the best price I have sourced of £1900 for the Gen 2 Swaro 2.5-15 x 56 IR. Now thats the price of a good second hand .22-250 barrel for the Sauer 202 I'm about to purchase, so would anybody disagree I'd be mad not to go for the Zeiss, bearing in mind it will stay on the Sauer as I switch between 30.06 for stalking and .22-250 for foxing?
