Coming late to the party and not for a moment decrying what high-powered air rifles can do but I simply don’t get this - can someone please explain how a .22 air rifle “slug” weighing 22gns and travelling south of 1000 fps (generating c,80ft lbs) can have “more range” than a 20gns .17 Hmr bullet travelling north of twice (and generating much more than twice the energy) the speed of said “slug”?
