2 Great Lions

No your initial post said big game not dg, what about other predators then?
If you dont like it fine, but to want others to not be able to is a crappy attitude.
I dont think you understand how and why its done.
On the flip side you could stop cattle and sheep farming then no need to control wolves and bears? Simple

You have a point,I did miss that out. The post was showing two guys who had shot Lions that were breed for people to shoot . Those Lions were not predating the animals they were born to do.

I do understand the main driver behind breeding programs and its to camoflauge the fact that most of the Lions will be shot for sport.

Back to the Safari industry. I and 99.9% of the population feel that travelling to Africa in order to shoot some Big animals for your own glory is both crass and garish ,despite every defense made to the contrary it is an industry that is more and more difficult to defend.

We could cease livestock farming which would remove the risk of predation. The government does refund farmers for any animals taken however this can be difficult to prove. Also the farms have in some cases been agricultural to some degree since the Viking age, reverting them to forest would probably be difficult to do.

If the original poster wanted to fish for complements would he not have enjoyed greater kudos on an Africa hunting forum?

If people stopped hunting big game in africa, what do you think would happen to it?

Have you been to Africa? I have twice also many UK SA friends (one not long back sold his game farm) others with very large blocks of land in SA and Namibia. If you have then tell us about your hunting trips please.

So what would happen then?

No, you are trying ti downplay him by questioning his experience, which adds zero to any discussion.
So, you being the expert, what do you think will happen?
I remember you when you was talking up about stalking and I asked you what had you done in Holland
When I asked you said.

So you are swerving the question of stalking experience lol my comments are factual from experience.
Again not relevant.
I am not looking for banter. I am just trying to help somebody get started instead of putting him off, so if (probably when...) you continu this annoying behaviour I wil put you on ignore. Do not need negative people in my life, way bigger problems to worrie about....

And once again zero you added to the discussion and upping the negative game by attacking me and threatening to do me the great loss of not having the magnificent you in my life.... The horror!!
You seem like suchs a lovely guy that really helps people allong by putting them down and I will miss you very much..... 😪
#sarcasm off#
Bye-bye!

I was born in the then Rhodesia,I worked on a family farm in Namibia during my uni holidays for three (UK) summers..

Have I hunted in Africa? Yes,shot 6 kudu, hoards of Baboons and once a problem leopard. What does this have to do with my opinion that shooting reared big cats is in poor taste?

I was asking Shakey Jake if he had been to Africa and happen to agree with your posts but I think you got your wires crossed, please show me where I posted a question to yourself?
This is what I asked Jake (who has not been to Africa just Clacton lol)
Also, with friends in Crannok and Namibia Johan van Rensburg @jvr has been here stalking with me
So just because others are pulling your chain it is not me :tiphat:

There are not enough paying " hunters" to subsidise your model either. DG hunting is on the way out, simple as that I am quite happy to report.

Times change old chap,Africa is testament to that.
I’m not sure that’s the case. If you have a well run concession with companies like Charlton McCallum , Dalton and York, Mokore Safaris, Zambezi Delta safaris (and many others) then they have no shortage of people who will pay for the absolute privilege of hunting with them. They are financially viable and actively taking on new areas. Their order books are full over a year in advance in many cases. Contrast that to non hunting areas like Kenya where the wilderness areas are encroached upon by humans at the expense of the wildlife. As an aside I heard the other day that Kenya may be reintroducing consumptive tourism which is hunting. This is a huge forward step in protecting the wildlife populations by giving the animals a value and harvesting the surplus to raise vital funds to fund anti poaching amongst other things.
Can I also point out that you have not proposed any answer to my previous question how you would replace the funding??

Some hunts do seem to lean in that direction it is true, which is why, whenever I watch African safari videos (which I enjoy), I try to avoid the ones featuring American clients 🤣

But I believe there's a lot of good work being done off the back of the hunting tourism industry, so I keep an open mind and reserve judgement until (if ever) I get to see for myself.
If you think the Yanks are bad,the storiesof what the mega rich Sheiks do on Safari would send shivers up your spine.

Clients literally having to be physically restrained to stop them shooting their 6th Buff that afternoon. Or two guys on the back of a Cruiser touring around a reserve blazing away at a veritable zoo that was stocked that morning. These jaunts are never made public for good reason.

There are good and bad practices in all walks of life, as well as in African hunting. I cannot watch most American's on U-tube when they are Canada goose shooting. Why do you need them to land or almost land before they shoot them (inevitably up the rear end) ? Why do they think it is great, and put it on the internet ? Why must they "crush them" or "smash them" or "beat down" on them ?

If you want to see "proper" goose shooting then watch Tok Portlivet shoot. It is a real privilege to watch ( turn the sound off though because he waffles on in Dutch).

My hunting experiences in Africa have all been extremely positive, with good hunting, sportsmanship, and ethics. It is because of those things that the whole experience is so wonderful.

Tok is good to watch, the Dutch is even better... 😁
If most African Hunting is ethical, isn't it just a question of not throwing out the baby with the bathwater and sort out the bad excesses?

Anywhere in this thread I replied to you apart from the one above and this one  🤣
