So I thought I would share the results of a little ( not too scientific) testing of three different 22LR subsonics.
The Rifle a CZ452 Varmint (20") with a SAK moderator.
The Ammo:-
Old Eley Grey box subsonic
New Eley White box (38gn) subs.
RWS subs.
The Rifle was bag rested, prone.
The scope a 6x42 S&B.
Distance 40yds and 70yds.
A light breeze, left to right.
5 shot groups.

Top=old Eley
Middle=New Eley
Bottom=RWS

On each, the uppermost shots are 40yds and the lower bullet holes at 70yds.

Ok, with a 6x scope parallaxed at 100yds and a bit of variation by the nut behind the butt but you get the general picture.

Always worth testing 22RF to get the best type and batch for your rifle . Serious competitors travel globally to get the best for their RF guns and stock levels that many of us would not get on our licences

I did a bit of testing myself with the rimfire last week with the Alpex 4k LRF.
I've used RWS 40gr for a good while now with some Eley 38gr in reserve.
I have a FX air rifle chronograph now & I was quite suprised to see the spread over 10 shots of each.
The RWS was 38fps & the Eley was only 22fps not much in the scheme of things but still good know when I miss i can blame that😄😄

On the ( not to scientific) testing the white box eleys were superb at 40yds.
I haven't had any issues on rabbits (engine room shots) and in my limited testing the rabbits have dropped quick.

Interesting results.
I tested some factory 222 ammo a few days ago and was surprised at my results.
2 brands of ammo, Sako Gamehead 50 grain and Hornady Superformance 50 grain.
First targets shot at 50 yards.

Next shot at 100 yards.

Last ones shot at 200 yards.
Funny how the Hornady Superformance is better at 50 yards and 100 yards but then opens up more than the Sako at 200 yards. Don’t you think?
Or is this normal?
Cheers, Ken.
