.223 Reloading Powder and Primers Advise

I can't find VV load data for 55gr Nosler ballistic tip bullets, but if you look at their data for .308, you will find that they show higher charge weights and velocities for 125gr Nosler BTs than for 125gr SMKs. Same weight bullets but different performances.

The nearest is 55g V-max, similar construction.
Usual caveats apply start with minimum and work up,checking for pressure signs.

Merry Xmas everyone.

Perzactly! No Nosler data mentioned!
It's a bit like people poo-pooing copper and magnetic bracelets, if it works for some........

Perhaps you should use the royal 'one'.

Yes, 'WE' should have!! :):):) :-|
They were 52 grain Amax made by Hornady for match shootin.

When I shot these in my first 223, long long time ago, I think the V version was nominally 53gn whilst the A was 52gn. In any event, most people reckoned they were the same bullet no matter what the label said. The A-Max was very thin-jacketed and fragile and is one of the very few bullets I've managed to blow up in flight.

Just picking up on reloading and was thinking of reloading .223 ammunition at 55gr starting. What would the advise be on the primers and Powders to use ? I am sure this has been done efficiently many times before.
On the die to use has anyone experienced any issues with the Lee Precision Ultimate Die Set .223 Rem

Advise and direction on this would be much appreciated.

Many Thanks
Tahir

Hope everyone had a good Christmas,

I found the book 'The Beginner's Guide to Reloading Ammunition' by Steven Gregersen a good read, to the point with good illustrations. It does say a beginners guide but is quite detailed.

Below is my zero on target, left most is within 7/16th of an inch.

Has anyone used/reloaded 5.56X45 nato and .223 cases interchangeable on a .223 and is it recommended or just stick with .223 cases.

Think military cases have primers crimped so you'd have to remove the crimp prior to adding a new primer...I think...don't quote me on that

I reuse GGG cases for CSR, which are military ones that you can get via NRA etc. these are 5.56 not 223 and as i understand it have a couple of differences.
1 crimp... i use a tool from RCBS to remove the crimp
2 wall thickness... as I understand it, the walls are thicker in the 556 so that the same amount of powder creates more pressure... not sure if that is true, i use a wild chambered 5.56/223 and use a recipe for the 556. - certainly i use less powder than mt-hunting on each round
