.22LR barrel cleaning

I know, most of us don’t clean .22LR barrels. But have any of you tried cleaning in the same way a centrefire is cleaned?

I know most will clean and then foul the barrel but do you see a major difference?

My T1X recently seems to have lost a little accuracy when in cold conditions, I’m wondering if a good scrub may be in order…

Dont.

Check everything else. Action screws, scope mounts, ammo batch etc.If its cold cold, try biathlon ammo.

I have shot for 40 years and have never cleaned a .22lr barrel

I have a T1x as well
I clean mine each time I use it.
I don't give it a deep clean . I just run a few patches with ballistol through it .
Accuracy is great and I have a good few thousand rounds through it.

I am the same, and I’m maybe being picky as it will still shoot well, but it’s just opened up a little.

Nothing wrong with any other component - they are all regularly checked, it’s the difference between 3/4” and 1” at 50 yards.

I do have a lot of data with a lot of different ammunition for this rifle and it’s been very good, and I do see a usual slight drop in accuracy in cold wether, I can also demonstrate a difference between cold ammunition and barrel vs warm barrel and ammunition.

I shoot around 12,000 rounds a year through mine!

When you say " cold",how cold are you describing?
fairly cold outside, I usually shoot 20 rounds through it and leave it 5 mins to warm it up before I shoot a group for accuracy.

If I shoot at an indoor range where the temp is warm it’ll shoot a raggedy hole at 25 meters.

Give it a good clean. Pay attention to the area just in front of the chamber as there is bound to be a build up of carbon in that area.

If you’re shooting 12k of ammo a year then that's far more experience than me. Clean it, it'll be fine. Half a dozen rounds it'll be back on it.
It can sometimes take 50 rounds depending on the 22, but I wonder if it’s work seeing how it shoots from clean again…it’s just not something you hear a lot of - cleaning 22’s…some of the newer tight chamber .22’s like the CZ LRP’s can be ammo feed fussy and I wonder if they need more cleaning than a T1X for example.

I always clean my barrels asap after use regardless of calibre, I've never noticed any accuracy issues arising but before I got into the habit of keeping things clean I had pitting and corrosion issues.
