70gr are devastating on foxes out of my. 243.I’m thinking of trying the 70grn Blitzking and also toying with the idea of the 55grn Blitzking.
Does anyone have any feedback on either.
38.6gr of Vihtavuori 140 under 70gr blitzking at 100yards, 4 shots
Shame about the “flier” lol
Hi, Scoggsy1978, I did the exact same thing as you, I worked up slowly but found that I had no significant increase for the powder used from 39 to 39.5 grains. so I settled on 39.2, so almost the same as yourself. Im getting an average of 3420 fps and my OAL is 2.681 also. I did try a little jump and extended slightly, but it didnt do any better. I use the exact same load and length for 70 grain Varmagedons, Blitzkings give me a half inch group at 100, varmagedons give me quarter of an inch. I run a 24 inch barrel from my x-bolt.
If I remember right I think my first loads were to the right also. I worked up a little and it came back. I would think your velocity is up on the 75sst's that you were using, the 1.5 inch high could be accounted for there. I also have some Vmax 58's, they are just over an inch higher at 100 yards. They shoot super flat, but I prefer the 70's. I bought some 90 grn soft points to try, but to date have not worked up a load for them with N160. good luck with your load. its sounds right for your Sako. Thanks 143-Dai.....thats good to know.
I peaked at 3222 fps using a 19" (1:10) barrel so will keep with that using 38.8gr of N140.
Interestingly I was previously using Hornady 75gr Vmax SST's and found that when testing home loads that I was consistently 1.5" high and 1" to the right! Puzzled me why!
