I have owned 4 243's and never had any luck with them accuracy wise, the 6mm Rem leaves it for dead in speed and accuracy and the 6mmBr is far more accurate and more efficient than both, and i would not shoot deer with a 6mm another 14 thousandth of an inch is minimum

The "Dead Horse" keeps raising it head. The 243 should be relegated to the ferrilizer. No real use for it. If you are shooting fox the 22 cetnterfires will do and if you are shooting deer you owe it to your quary to use a 30 caliber... Really an easy issue.

Mungo, If this is as you say "tedious", why do you keep coming back? Is it to get the last word?
Anyway, over the weekend I realized I was erroneously referring to the 243W, all along I meant to say the 22WMR is a poor cartridge, some how got confused. The 243 is great, much better than the 6mm Rem.

Stopped a charging bull buff with a WMR in a custom double rifle. Didn't even need the second barrel. Used solid obviously.
A very good question I keep asking myself.

I suppose I'm also morbidly fascinated by people who adopt extreme opinions and are deliberately provocative - always want to try to work out whether they're wind up artists; genuinely dogmatic obsessives who can't see past their own prejudices; or willy wavers trying to adopt a persona to score points. I always find it very hard to understand people who are incapable or unwilling to adjust opionions during reasoned debate. This may be why I spend a lot of time baffled!
Mungo I feel that should we meet I would like you, don't know why but there is something of me in your reasoning.

Now this is a wind up, you know yourself Marcbo that the 6mmRem is an excellent cartridge and far better then the 243!
However i will agree about the 22WMR a truely dreadfull cartridge, at least my experiences with it were!
