Thanks folks. I’m not sure how I feel about it or changing it. I did expect the 6.5prc popularity to drop off,(it’s certainly not had the creed uptake). I think something 7mm is the general sweet spot but I’m also happy with 6.5 and .30 cals. I do like the idea of .308 with 130 grain.
I’m very much a point and shoot up to 250 yard guy. I’d like to be more confident beyond this,(even to 300) but I’ve always just stalked closer.
I’m not too worried about paying for powder on the actual volume that I shoot,(obviously cheaper is better). But I don’t really want unnecessary kick. I used a .300 win mag for several hunts and it was great on game - really confident with the gun actually - but horrible when sighting in or on a bench. So there’s a happy medium.
.308 might be the sensible choice but I just can’t get behind more arc than needed
