3 Calibres

Just moved on the .243 which was my first deer legal caliber and having not used it for years.
So that leaves me with.
22lr
22-250
7mm-08
Think that about covers it nicely for the UK.

You'd be surprised how many large animals are taken with a Swede up here , or for that matter a 30/30 .

AB
I would be perfectly fine using a 30-30 on even elk and moose if the shots were in the 30-30 effective range. I’ve also read the 30-30 has always been popular with First Nations people. But as stated I might not. I recently took a Nilgai at around 260 yards with my Swede and I liked the results.

My 3 would be what I have in cabinet:
22lr
22-250
243
Also currently run 270 & 308, find i have something for all eventualities.

22FAC .22lr rabbits vermin
.243 fox /deer
.308 deer/larger deer

I currently have .22 FAC /air as opposed to rim fire as at the time my main rabbit shooting was on a. Farm where a rim fire wasnt allowed. Would choose .22lr all day long though.

.243my first centre fire although for fox would probably go .22/250
And have .308 slot for everything else from muntjac to boar if I required it. Such a versatile round

.223 for fox and Muntjac/CWD once the large deer season is over, 6.5x55 as a light stalking rifle in woodland (Fallow, Roe), 300 win mag for anything else out on the hill.

22FacAir(springer) | 22Hornet | 270
(I would also like a Mora Clipper Carbon and a Gamekeeper John Catapult)

Three chamberings to cover all bases with regards rabbit, fox and various deer species?

It would be my current line-up of .22LR, .243Win & 7x64.

I desperately wanted to say .222 in place of the .243, but looking at it objectively (with a view to "covering all bases") it has to be the .243 as I feel it more versatile.

Whilst I currently have 7 rifles and would not wish to entertain lowering that number, the 3 for this criteria would be;

.22LR for rabbits and close vermin
.243 for foxes, small deer and long distance vermin
.30-06 for deer and boar

.22LR -- bunnies, practice
.308 -- deer, smaller plains game
.300 RUM -- bigger plains game, elk (wapiti), moose, bison, musk ox, brown bear etc.

If I was only thinking U.K.

17 HMR
243
270

However I do shoot abroad so I would have to go

17 HMR everything up to foxes
243 foxes to Fallow and Reds with right bullet and range
300 win mag everything up to big 5 and I am not interested in hunting them so not an issue
