.308 Subsonic

Got a job of work this week..dispatching 3x Highland bulls....had a load of subsonic made up for this type of job....308 220gSP with 14g of Trail Boss delivered at no more than 15 yds beneath the horns into the forehead and in line with the brain stem....power without over velocity and good regulated expansion from the SPs.....they have a thick bone plate on the forehead! Posted for general interest not opinions..particularly with the recent Police debacle....

Were they actually subsonic with 14gr of trailboss ? I found 10gr enough to remain sub

Re your point ..I asked for a bit more powder on this particular load because of the depth of the skull frontal plate on this breed..it may be on the edge of subsonic velocity but I am happy with the previous results ..thanks for your comment

I just load 6-7 GN of red dot, green dot, herco or unique under any reversed bullet in my 30-30. Not much different to my 308.

If you ever need more subsonic ammo, now that trailboss isnt available. I can thoroughly recommend Reload Swiss 14. In .308 it is amazing
