410 reloading

I am going to get my friend to pick me up a lee loadall when he is in states.
So can you pm me your phone no and i will call you in a couple of days
THanks again mate!

When you do get this project underway, 7/12 is a good all around shot size. I used a .410 3” to hunt dove, quail and a few crows years ago. I didn’t have a problem hitting game, killing them was another story. Given the limited payload, the 7 1/2, put more shot into the game and resulted in cleaner kills. I’ve since retired my .410 mostly, .28 ga. Is my new light weight in the shotgun realm.

Absolutely. I lament when ever I go to buy 410 cartridges and they are usually #6.
I don't ont get it. I want #7 or #7.5 any day of the week.

I'm not sure it's cost effective to load full charge 410 but I load subsonic 1/2oz loads for ratties in my back garden. With a moderator they're as quiet as the airgun.

I cut the old crimp off in my 3d printed cutter with an Exacto razor saw, size them in, of all things, an old Lee 45ACP which is exactly the right diameter the just load them with scoops and whatever wads I have around. I use any old powder I have around but be aware, 12bore type powder is too fast for a full load in 410. The pressure will quickly exceed safe levels for most 410 shotguns and some of mine are VERY old.

The roll crimper I got off ebay but although it was cheap and very good, it was made in Russia so it could be a problem at the mo. I printed some clamps which hold the case firmly when rolling the crimp in the pillar drill, but pliers work fine if you're careful.

That’s quite an amazing and elaborate set up/process! You should go to work at the Weatherby loading factory. I have no doubt that you could streamline their loading process and have ammo produced at 20% of current retail prices.

Start with a Mec, clay and game are a good source of parts and conversion kits from 12-410 which is great. The only issue you’ll find is getting powder is like trying to wrestle a unicorn it’s impossible to get at the moment 😩
