444m in 45-70 moderator

Anyone got a mod on there .444 or 45-70 if so what make did you go for ?
Seen a wildcat one but looking to see what else there was available in the UK

Try sub-sonic loads for your 45-70 with a suppressor. I’ve seen videos of such a setup and it’s remarkably quiet when used in conjunction with sub-sonic loads. Considering the original 45-70 load wasn’t too much above the speed of sound, it’s not much of a reduction.

Sadly, over here subsonic would limit which deer could be taken so most folk don't go that route.

There is no UK deer that can survive a chest shot with a subsonic 4570 bullet, a patched round ball rifle, a 410 slug or a 22 hornet.

I do find it amusing that we can currently legally take Scottish stags with a 22-250, but not a 700 Nitro

45-70 with a Suppressor have gotten popular here in the States for hunting wild hogs. As have other subsonic calibers because the wild hogs aren’t alarmed by the shot. And since they have become such a nuisance, you can shoot as many as you can. The suppressed subsonic calibers usually give you the chance to bag several before they realize what’s going on.

In Scotland there is no minimum calibre, just a min bullet weight of 80gns, a min muzzle velocity of 2450 fps and min muzzle energy of 1,750 ft lbs (i stand to be corrected on the exact numbers).

To be legal you need to exceed all three parameters. So technically if you could get an 80 gn bullet in a 17 calibre meeting the ME and MV requirements you would be legal.

With a 22-250 you may struggle with twist rate and accuracy. The 22 Creedmoor however can shoot and stabilise an 80gn bullet, so can be legal for a red stag.
