45-70 Lever Gun

I’m not disagreeing that particular bullets perform well, same with .45-70. But, that’s my experience which left me underwhelmed by the caliber.

Not the rifles though. I used to collect Marlins. At one time I had 27, now I have just nine. And like the .32 Win Spl, .444 was an answer looking for the question, to my mind.

So I called the shop that I spoke to yesterday about the Ruger SBL, there was a mistake as the one they had in stock was actually sold.....

Is OK buddy.

There will be more and you have other options... thought about a "Modern" Pedersoli 1886 clone in 45-70?

If it were me I'd get the model with the on bolt peep sight and fit the forward weaver rail without the buckhorn so you could very easily shoot red dot or scout scope and transition 2 irons using QD mounts...

But that's just me...

They said they should have some more in a few weeks as they're in the proof house. I was planning on taking it out on a trip next week.

Im now in the club.

What wasnt noticable when I picked it up was that the front sight is slightly canted, from a bit of searching other forums it may be the timing of the barrel has been taken a bit to far. The RFD is seeing what they can do. Only seen the cant when looking down the sights against a cloudy sky.

Mines a Remlin and it has a canted sight, also the picatinny rail was fitted very badly. I spent quite some time adjusting and re-aligning the rail, but as a temporary 'fix' I shimmed the front sight with paper. Not ideal but it's ok until I decide to get it done properly. Too many other distractions at the moment!

Do you know if yours is becuase of the barrel being over torqued?
