6.5 creedmoor Sako

Hi all

Just bought a new Sako 90 adventure, 6.5 creed.
I think it’s 1-8 twist
I’ll be using factory ammo to start with.
Wanting to know where to start (brand, grn size ect). I know every rifle likes certain ammunition but just wondered if anyone on here had the same gun and had found an ammo that works well.
Thanks

For loaded ammo I would go straight to Berger.
You'll have far better es/sd and quality brass left over. Really the eldm is a better game bullet than the eldx should you go Hornady. I've witnessed both and the latter has a pretty poor reputation in my circle.

I’ve shot several hundred deer with eldm and eldx.

I don’t think I could honestly say there’s a detectable difference. Both are very accurate, both kill extremely well, and both make a bit of a mess at short range if you hit bone.

🙄 sorry but here we go again…

Sako rifle + Sako ammo = job done.

If you want to try different ammo then find out what you can guarantee to be able to buy as & when you need it from your local RFD(s), buy a box of each to try then settle on whichever works best. Then buy as much of that as you can on your FAC allowance & get out & use it.

Fair point and no argument, I may not be considering the ranges of shots taken. But certainly from what I have witnessed the eldm provides a much better wound channel than the X when the the shot is 400 plus yards, which is common where I live.
But, the words " Hornady" and "accurate" in the same sentence? (Sorry, that's a bit of humor over here) but they are fine for normal hunting ranges.

I’ve not shot past 450 metres, and have no intention of doing so! Between 150 and 350 is where the bulk of mine are shot. In that range, the accuracy is good enough that any error is mine, not the bullet.

Never had a bad outcome that wasn’t my fault.
