Does anyone on here use or has used the 102.4 grain 6.5 yewtree on deer ?
What speed are you getting at the muzzle ?
What are they like for damage ?
Cheers
Jimmy

I shoot these with an 18 Inch barrel & get 2820 fps ave. (Rs60) I find them to be very accurate (0.3moa) and destructive (think v-max). I only head or neck shoot muntjac with these
now as I was finding diaphragm and rumen rupture because of fragmentation in their smaller chest - shot many fallow with these too, without any issue. I switched to these from barnes and haven't looked back

Cheers for that,
how's it looking internally when you open it up please ?
Not really any different than my previous 243 with lead. The muntjac in the picture I managed to save both front shoulder. Usually on the smaller one you lose one of the front shoulders. I’m not shoot many with the yew tree but very happy so far.

Very helpful matey much appreciated 👍🏻

I use the Yewtree TLR in 114gr 6.5mm. They produce golf ball plus size exit wounds on Highland hill hinds at 300m plus - which sees better than many brands. In five seasons I have had no issues.

It does mean you get more than usual carcass damage with roe at low ground ranges but I don't have time to swap as can be one day after another.

When moving to a copper round that 'petals' I did move my chest shot placement forward slightly to avoid bursting the rumen. I come up from the middle of the foreleg now rather than just behind it

Just started using the 114 tlr in my 6.5x55 doing around 2960fps
If you hit centre shoulder on roe expect a bit of damage but not terrible
Shot a few sika but nothing to fully test them so far
Or have I shot anything past 200
So early days but so far so good 🙂

The 114 TLR has been great in my experience on small deer. The 127lrx probably caused more damage and it’s non expanding. Both are good. After using a few different yew tree bullets the consistency in accuracy is undeniable. Lathe turned bullets are very consistent

Following on using the 114 tlr
Shot another 2 roe last night
Buck 187yrd behind the armpit very little sign of reaction deer run
Got to shot site plenty blood and bit of lung followed a very strong blood trail for 30yrd buck found stone dead exit around 2inch
Clipped lung and top of heart

Then shot a doe 120yrd front of shoulder dropped on the spot slightly larger exit

One thing I’ve found is if your hitting them behind the shoulder pay attention as some time very little reaction is shown
But their a terrific copper round
