Just wondering has anyone tried this powder combination? is it at all suitable? vihtavuori doesnt seem to list it.

reason being that iam running low on n550 and have 2kilos of n135 left.

You may get more powder in and a better fill
The PMax is low for the cartridge but higher spec brass and guns allow for higher pressure before any signs
i usually havw Sako brass, in a CZ550. So i can definitely go higher than that. most of the time i find accuracy before that. altho with n550 i have gone as high as 45 grains with the bullet seated further out. That worked quite well but its on the edge, bit of a heavy bolt lift depending on the weather.

tried working something up, 35.8gr. took a hammer to open the bolt already. I dont think this is going to work case fill wise. Basically it would be very low velocity for the bullet weight and pressure makes my butt clench up even at sub 80% case fill

Frankly I'm not surprised. IME QuickLOAD's default settings for N135 are way out and in real life this powder produces FAR higher pressures and MVs than predicted throwing you back onto the manufacturer's loads data. N135's absence in Viht's tables tells you everything you need to know about the combination, likewise the absence of comparable burn-rate powders from other manufacturers in their tables.

Here's what I got with it in 223 Rem with the 77gn MatchKing as a possible post-Reach alternative to H4895.

THE HANDLOADING BENCH REACH-OUT 8 (EU COMPLIANT POWDERS)

.......... and scroll down. (and that's in a cartridge where N135 has many useful applications!)

there is another factor at play. I loaded up some of eds loads with my last n550 in the same lapua brass and it took a hammer to open the bolt again. On all cases the primers look quite normal. Either something is seriously off with my rifle or the brass is doing something it shouldnt.

Or you are doing something you shouldn’t ;)

I asked several opinions including a retired gunsmith. Other than the bolt nothing points at high pressure... thinking maybe something is off with my brass or chamber. However the rifle hasnt haf issues before the only change is that i grabbed a new batch of brass off the shelve (new meaning i purchased them from someone) Il try some different brass tomorrow.

Since the issue also affects a trusted load i have used before il try to develop the n135 load again if the different brass pans out.

That was just a preliminary test to get il do a proper development now with some bigger charges. clearly n135 does work. and is quieter in the supressor. I think with some tinkering i can get a 0.5moa load with it.

I F/L resize all my brass (Norma) & bump the case shoulder back .002" from FIRED headcase dimension. Using VihtN550 (43gns) & a 123gn Hornady SST MV is around 2780fps & no problem chambering a cartridge or extracting a fired round. Accuracy is excellent & it's good for all UK deer including red stags in the rut.

similar to my normal load. And i FL size all new brass for the first firing. This was second hand mystery brass. My guess is that someone anealed the life out of it

Please don't persist with this, it's just asking for trouble. And for about a hundred quid you can buy a tub of n560 /n550 or so. When something goes wrong, it's going to seem a very expensive mistake for the cost of a tub of powder.
Use up the n135 in a 223 or something, or even swap it out/ sell it and get the right powder. Sorry if I sound like I'm preaching at you, but I have seen a rifle go bang, luckily without anyone hurt.
Good luck

I've never used 2nd hand brass & definitely wouldn't trust how it's been previously used/treated.
New Norma is around £100/100 & first firing loads are never as good (Zero & groups are different) as after they've been once fired in my rifle, but hey, after that, they're spot on every time.
Good luck anyway 👍
