7.62x39

Hi guys. I hope you don’t mind me jumping on your thread. Very interesting reading. I don’t know if you’ve seen on the forum but I make and sell Keyrings and donate a percentage to a charity. I was wondering if anyone of you could help me out with some non reloadable berdan primed cases In x39? Steel or brass. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks. Mark :)

I use RS 36 in mine and deer legal below max book load in a cz carbine I use 123 Hornady sst.

love it, light fast handling rifle
"Handles like a .22, hits like a 30-30" Is how one friend described my CZ Carbine.
I don't have energy requirements but my carbine, with either Nosler or Hornady .310", 123 grain, were nudging 2500 fps at a grain and a half under maximum using Accurate 1680 powder. Sub MOA accurate as well so I quit. The Nosler Varmageddons were a real shocker: The one time I saw them used on deer they acted like a big game bullet, on a large deer. The shooter had a magazine full of Hornady Interlocks as a back up, and me with my 308 for additional insurance. It was unnecessary. She folded like a bad poker hand. Expansion was perfect.

With only a small pang of regret I'm shipping my beautifully stocked CZ Carbine to my son to use in the Michigan woods. I have the suppressor-cut model in some plain walnut for my rough work.~Muir

Will make some calls once things open up on the 15th but would appreciate any tips on where this is stocked in the Essex area

Thanks

HH
7.62 x39 can reach roe legal loads using 150gr 0.312" bullets with N120. See the vihtavuori data for 150gr and push it a little. 2300fps for 1763ft.lbf no probs with no pressure signs. 2.3" OAL

I can load a 123 grain Interlock with CFE BLACK to 2550 fps and 1771 ft/lbs energy. Sub MOA from my CZ's.
I braved 120 miles of icy roads today to accompany a friend of mine who had ordered a Ruger American Ranch rifle in X39 and was told it was in. Tough as nails and accurate as any. Like me, he also has a CZ 527 but he wanted a rifle he could abuse while herding cows and not worry about it. ~Muir

Hmm.
It always puzzles me that a round like the ubiquitous 7.62x39 which has probably killed or incapacitated more men than most others has to be “loaded up” to make it “deer legal” for the smaller deer species in the UK - given the distinctly different sizes and body masses involved. Funny old world.

I certainly hope I never live to see the day that such ridiculous rules are introduced into my country. My sons first rifle at the age of 9 yrs was a 7.62 x 39(he's now 36 yrs old) and I've lost count of the number of red stags and pigs that little rifle has accounted for. Only this past roar I took it for an evening stroll and ended up heart shooting a stag, it ran 40 metres and piled up dead. I was using a $20.00 NZD box of Privi 123 gr PSP. I feel so sorry for you guys in the UK.

My buddy was watching some review videos of the Ruger Ranch x39 and came across one guy in Oklahoma who was dropping deer at over 250 yards using Hornady 123 grain at 2340 fps. More impressive was shooting feral hogs at almost 300. Watching related videos, you can tell the man knows that round, and his rifle, intimately -which obviously enables him to place his shots well. I think that's the key to it all.... ~Muir

I wish 5.45 had made it over here in the UK with the rifles that shoot it. Same with 9x39. Price of 7.62x39 has rocketed though at £60 per 100 and is in short supply. The surplus goodies that is

Interestingly, if a 50 calibre long 6" naval gun was scaled down to .308 calibre, it would have a chamber capacity about the same as a 7.62 x 39 and a 15" barrel.

I wanted a 9x39 but ammo is unobtanium here and I wasn't interested enough to want to reform standard brass. Supplies of 7,62x39 are pretty good still. Not crazy cheap, but available. THe best buy for the reloader is BELOM ammo. Cheaper per 50 than unprimed brass and reloadable. ~Muir

Apparently 9x39 is really 9.3?

All this sub-sonic stuff is greatly overated, ask any PH who had a client who arrived with a Wetherby Magnum. Velocity is the only true religion!!!!!!!!!!!!! :stir::coat:

David.
If the deer are far enough away the rounds come in subsonic anyway......why waste a perfectly good walk trying to stalk them 👀
