I heard today that Heathrow and all of the Scottish airports have now banned the transportation of firearms. Does anyone know if this is true and if other airports will be affected?

I went through Heathrow not two weeks ago and there was a passenger being followed by a member of airport staff with a trolley and his gun case on it. But it did seem like an insane use of available staff given the circumstances.

That’s bad news as I’m flying to Kyrgyzstan in October
I’m off to Kazakhstan next week so I will find out soon enough! I can’t find any mention of this on any of the airport websites it simply states that firearms cannot be checked in as hand luggage etc

99% sure it will happen in the future of be exceedingly high prices as if BA wasn’t now.

I travel to Hungary to hunt a lot and few years ago made the decision to leave hunting clothes and a Blaser rifle over there

Well I hope this is not the case, but it would not surprise me. Stopping sporting firearms into Inverness is going to hit the local economy a bit. However all the Americans coming over to me this year are using the estate rifle system.
I am finding more and more overseas clients cant be bothered with lugging a gun case around with them.

I fly out of Heathrow T5 next Wednesday with firearms, have informed BA who have confirmed/ noted the fact.
Have not been informed of any issues by them as of yet.

I contacted Heathrow direct and they confirmed firearms are still allowed in line with the airline policy. Inform airline prior to arrival and allow plenty of time to process, Just usual stuff.

Utter nonsense from an internet forum.

Quelle surprise.

It would certainly be news to Great Britain Rifle Team members flying to Canada this weekend, or to Jo’burg next March.
