All combination gun users

I've had three over the years. I had a Brno 7x57R/12g which I still think I shot more deer with than any other rifle I've owned, it was brilliant. Then I sold it and bought a Sauer 8x60R/16g drilling, a nice light gun which is nothing like what some of the previous replies suggest, it balances very well and is fast to swing. Last but not least my current one is a Blaser BBF97 in .308/12g. The rimless cartridge isn't the end of the world but given the choice, rimmed cartridges are nicer with this setup.

Accuracy isn't like you'll get from a bolt action rifle but it's very acceptable. My Blaser groups about an inch at 100 yards. I'll never be without a gun that has a shotgun and rifle barrel, they're absolutely spot on for a keeper or someone who likes a walk in the woods and is happy to take anything from a pigeon to a deer. The only thing I will say is don't load the rifle barrel if you're intending to shoot squirrels or birds - I once pulled off a head shot on a squirrel which was running up the trunk of a large beech tree........ with the 8x60R!
Never again!

After reading this thread and pondering- I really need a combination gun in my life.

222 and 12G would be lovely now I think about it.
Get one that has a deer legal rifle barrel, it'll still work for foxes. A woodland wandering gun which can't shoot deer is about as much use as a chocolate teapot in my opinion.

Ha fair point ! Prob with that is you're using a deer calibre for a 100 yard crow, rabbit or ground squirrel etc!

I don't have much woodland to wander tbh- I think a dedicated deer gun and then a combination for everything else would suit me tbh....

Been down to look at the auction house today after work, just to se if they got anything interesting in lately.
Got this combi in hand, even though the small bullet caliber (220 russian), in my opinion, is not optimal for break open guns, I cant help thinking of making a bid on it.

It felt like the gun wanted to be taken home to live in my house.

That's a drilling no?
