An honest question?

Your whole post is about how it is in Norfolk and for you, and therefore all the problems certificate holders face are self inflicted.

Well done, pat yourself on the back.

Many others aren't so lucky, and are having a tough time getting through the renewal process despite doing everything you did and in plenty of time, and still get the shaft. Many don't get the chance for a P2P after the extension expires so it is forced storage, not many places can take a larger collection, so advice needed.
They come here to vent, get advice and inform or warn others.

As an eg, my father's FAC expired in November 25, applied for renewal with all paperwork in June 25. Got the 2 month extension and then P2P, had his phone interview begining of June and got his certs back earlier this week. He's one of the luckier ones in BCH, only 11 months, 9 as a nonFAC holder.
Ok, he didn't moan on here about it, but he's 90 and the internet is something that happens to others, but I certainly heard about it.
90 - well done! There's hope yet for my next renewal. Hopefully the proposed Palantir system will help to speed things up.

Why is it all you see on the legal section, Is people moaning about medical and renewals?

New applications I understand they’re always going to be on the drag that is what it is always has been always will be, but renewals honestly!

Dealing with renewals is as simple as black and white, soon as it lands on the Mat book your medical however you should choose to go about your solution to the problem, me personally living in Norfolk we are told to submit our renewal before medical, personally what I did renewal paperwork, sent SPECIAL DELIVERY (pay the money) and medical work done and at the Doctors whole lot done within the first 48 hours of landing on my Mat!

I reload so no problem with the ammunition kickback and carry on.

When will you lot realise that a renewal is as simple as pull your finger out of your arse?

Think forward not backwards fill your tickets up with ammunition and roll with it because once it’s in their hands you’ve got time and time if your tickets are full means stalking, then it doesn’t matter how long it takes, ticket runs out you’ll get an extension and in my experience it will turn up a week before your extension runs out happy days it really is that simple!
Couldn’t agree more. But there are too many who just make it difficult for both themselves and the police to justify why the should have a grant of a FAC in the first place, then a Renewal.

I know a few rifle club secretaries and chairmen who all a couple or three times a year get a call from enquiry officers asking about Walter Mitty who claims to be an active member of the club, yet has never even been heard of, or turned up once three years ago as a probationer.

My Pa had his shotgun certificate renewed by TVP in 2024 and the age of 85. He was first granted it by TVP in the mud 1970’s.

At the time of last renewal he was hobbling around with two artificial hips and knees, and mostly just used a single shot 410, but still of sound mind. Reason? controlling vermin, especially magpies and crows raiding rare birds nests in the trees alongside the garden.

What's "the ammunition kickback"?????

Submitted all my paper work with good time,.

Took over 9 months, had to put all guns on girlfriends tickets.
Ticket arrived back dated. How can the police commit fraud?
You shouldn't have had to put them on your girlfriends ticket, you should have been given an automatic extension the sect7 if need be. The way the back dated ticket was explained to me was tickets have to run concurrently, when I asked about the two months I'd lost due to incompetence I didn't get an answer

If you don’t get reminders, look on your ticket it has an expiry date, get moving in a month before it runs out. It really is a bloody simple.!
Month before isn't enough, to get the automatic extension, paperwork needs to be in 8 weeks before expiry, be this current shambles of a system I always put my paperwork in 14 weeks before expiry, now I'll be getting my doctors letter six months before

Why did he need a reason for a .410?

(
This is where it should not vary, there should be consistency throughout the UK, nothing to stop you from sending an incomplete for in with a note to explain Dr info to follow). personally what I did renewal paperwork, sent SPECIAL DELIVERY (pay the money) and medical work done and at the Doctors whole lot done within the first 48 hours of landing on my Mat!

When will you lot realise that a renewal is as simple as pull your finger out of your arse? Nothing i do personally

Think forward not backwards fill your tickets up with ammunition and roll with it because once it’s in their hands you’ve got time and time if your tickets are full means stalking, then it doesn’t matter how long it takes, ticket runs out you’ll get an extension Ah! well not in all cases and in my experience i was without an extension for a number of days until a Sec 7 was delivered so in possession of firearms without a cert, it will turn up a week before your extension runs out happy days it really is that simple! 7 months and 3 weeks, after and no correspondents from Firearms department only after me raising concerns over illegal possession that they had put me in that position.
So its no surprise really that there are plenty of members posting Medical and Licence issues in the legal section.

But you have to wonder if the issues are self made?

In all the years I’ve had my licences, I’ve never had a problem, hell I’ve even done a 141 on a pistol for humane dispatch in years gone by with no issues!

All I’ve ever done is, got it all on on time and let them get on with it.

In my case certainly not self made, application went in well in advance, 1 staff member working 2 days a week another LTS, a large back log yet no plan to reduce. Its really no surprise we get so frustrated, Its only this last renewal had any delay.

If you ever pas up through Leicestershire on the M1 call off at J21 and I'll give you a couple of boxes to pass on to him. Small shot English #9. It's God's work he is doing...killing the black and white vandals!

My last renewal, no renewal letter arrived so contact FEO office who told me to get my doctors form
In ASAP , they will send form following day- next day printed my forms off for doctors- ran them to doctors same day- 3 months later and lots of phone calls. I get doctors letter back few days before my time limit to submit paperwork- can’t send an application without medical form, police website kept crashing on me, typing to slow I think.
Got paper copy in delivered by hand with day to spare .
Did get my license back for renewal though without any extensions . So my main hold up was the doctor cert.

They flat out refused to give me an extension.
Ive kept all the emails. I cant see how they can run concurrently whilst at the same time im told i do not have a license and could cace prison if i dont surrender them.
Its either incompetence or they are deliberatly fudging the info to cover them selves. I know which one i think it is

Thank you, indeed past you yesterday on my way North. However my Pa is now gone to the special place in the African bush where the birds all sing, and the animals all be, and he is with all his good friends around the fire drinking the angels share of fine malt whisky. There is also a version of Lords Cricket Ground, and Twickenham where all play cricket and rugby and watch the matches down here.

Pa grew up in the bush, hunting Spirwing geese and crocodiles on the Kafue with his mannlicher rifle, along with guinae fowl, partridges and ducks. He was never a big game hunter, but totally got why it is a key part of conservation. He was an irrigation engineer, and in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) he put in lots of irrigation in the low veldt. Sadly he had to call National Parks to educate the Elephants not to eat all the wheat. He did go out with them a couple of times and ever since was very much at odds with need to clear land for agriculture to feed human population yet the direct effect this has on the natural ecosystem.

He was an avid bird watcher and I have his bird books covered in notes from 80plus years of chasing birds.

I don't believe thats lawful, but as we don't have shooting organisations with any fight in them, I can see how it happened
Lawful or not, it's happening. The FLDs get a black mark against them for the number of P2Ps they issue for the sole reason they are inefficient, and this is an admission of that fact, so they're not doing it.
I haven't found a law that says they have to issue one but you'd think they'd have to as this is their mistake.
I have also heard that some forces are paying for storage when pushed, as to fight the case will likely cost more than the storage fees.

let them get on with it.
The main issue is, that they aren't getting on with it, instead of the process being made more efficient ,as is the way with virtually every industry or practice since time began, the process becomes more complex and problematic, and we are expected to be grateful for it and pay ever more to be f*&ked about
