An SD register of open larders?

I feel your missing the point there is no owner it would be a cooperative. I see your from Wiltshire do this problem will not effect you at all. Sadly this is a Scotland only problem and one that will need sorting unless we can keep paying 100,s of millions over the next 10 years..
I'm lucky I can stalk the whole length of the country when ever I want. The point I'm trying to make is there is a set up and ongoing cost to these things and from experience it's hard to get people to stump up the money needed. If someone sets something up and allows it on their ground they would rightfully want to make a decent return.

My chiller and operation is compliant in every way to satisfy the EHO etc, I don’t make a profit or a loss on it’s use, it is for what I want and do, if there is a need for a cooperative chiller by all means crack on invest the money and take a chance.

my own thoughts are it will become a cropper not so much on the outlay you will re coup that over time or if re sold
but on your time, running and maintenance costs with the inevitable insurance against a breakdown and product loss and all for someone else who you may not even know who can just walk away

As I see it, it doesn’t stack up too well

The theory is an excellent idea in reality high risk venture, but everyone to their own, if you feel you can grip that and make it a success through the year I would certainly wish you well

It is working in many places in Scotland were the Scottish government has invested. Sadly as is always the case with government departments the investors SNH at the time put our money forward to self serve. It is also working in the central belt sadly on a black market bases and it is only a matter of time before the industry here hits another further problem with venison getting shut down through ECOLI or something. similar.

Pete your lucky to stalk the length of the UK! Sadly you are missing the point there is no profit in a proper cooperative.

How did the investment work elsewhere? I assume someone must be in charge and should get some benefits.
