Any experience with Gateway1 Boots?

Hey community, looking to replace a pair of well worn and now leaking wellies... currently looking at the market and between Gateway1, and Le Chameau.

Leaning towards Gateway1 Pheasant Game (Gateway1 Pheasant Game 18" 5mm Side-Zip Wellingtons) based purely on price at the moment and the fact that both have 2 year warranties with similar "features" and lining profile.

Anyone got any experience of Gateway1 boots? Any recommendations from the community?

Thanks in advance!

*Edit: also up for other recommendations if anyone has any! I've seen a few things on here re: Harkila wellies which has put me off of them but open to others...

Have been running a pair of wellies and Chelsea boots of theirs for a couple of years now, no complaints.

They do look quite nice!

I know Aigle get quite a few recommendations as well?

Will be following this though, as I would like to get some "nicer" zip ones instead of the gusset ones I picked up from the local angling store's bargain bins...

Assuming that's Gateway1 rather than Le Chameau?
Sorry, yes. I was going off the thread title and didn't clarify.

The Gateway1 soles tend to be a little thicker than Le Chameau it seems, but they don't feel heavy or cumbersome.

I practically live in my Gateway1 Chelsea boots, and I use their Woodwalker Wide all year round.

Hi all, appreciate the feedback and those that PM'd - thought I'd drop some feedback back into the chat. So as I said, took the plunge and ordered a pair of Gateway1 Pheasant Game 5mm from Newforestclothing - also used the discount code "NFC-Outlet" for 10% off (not sure if this is still working but hopefully is!) so ultimately paid c£180 for them.

The good
I've now made a good few outings dog walking and on a peg in them in all weathers as I'm sure you'll all have appreciated in the last month (I have not used them stalking yet), first question am I happy with them? Yes 100%, I feel like these have been fantastic value so far compared to what is out there on the market for full zip boots.

They feel; robust, the soles have great grip but they do not feel heavy.

The rubber itself is suitably flexible so things like driving in them aren't problematic.

Importantly when stood on a peg in -5 they feel very warm.

The less good
I won't say bad as I don't think these warrant the label of being negatives, they are purely down to preference.

The calf size feels big (although this is adjustable up to a point, the mechanism for this is also less pleasing on the aesthetic side of things as it can have the attribute of dangling and flopping around unless secured), on the flip side, this is good in the eventuality that you are wearing multiple layers of socks/trousers or have larger calfs.

---------------
Any questions just give me a shout!

did not see the post before... I have had a pair for the last 2 1/2 years I think. I like that they are wide in the foot and a decent size in the calf. I use them a lot for wildfowling and for pheasant days. but not for beating (prefer boots and gaiters for better grip). They are comfy and warm and I really do not have anything bad to say about them. I would buy again so that says it all really.

I had a pair of Gateway high calf stalking boots, very comfortable but at about 367 days old they started to leak and the retailer told me that Gateway were renowned for not considering any warranty claims beyond 12 months

Had a pair of the Woodwalker. U fortunately have had to return them after only three weeks the heel stitching inside split wide open. Obviously faulty so being replaced which is annoying as they were bloody comfortable. Hopefully these last more than a few week.

gateway pro shooters top class wellies especially if you need the wider calf .. cannot fault gateway.. this is now my 2nd purchase of gateway ..
