Anyone ever have an issue of duplicate insurance cover?

Hi,
I am wondering if sadly being a member of multiple shooting organisations is counter productive with regards to insurance (ie. Public liability insurance).
Other than BASC (which I am no longer member of), all the others seem to only give cover if no alternative. So for example. Being a member of NGO and SACS would not be advisable, as both could say the other provides cover!
At the moment I am a member of NGO and CCC3, which also could potentially be an issue.

My understanding is you are covered under all of your insurance policies, after all you are paying for them.

I know it's a little different, but I got a refund on 6 months car insurance once because I had two policies running concurrently for the same vehicle (long story). I can't remember the fine details but the gist of it was the second policy wasn't insuring the vehicle because it can only be insured once or something. Presumably the same applies to any policy for any kind of insurance?

I think the issues comes when a claim is made because it is a criminal offence to claim twice for one incident, rather than it being an issue of having more than one cover. If you decide that one cover will be used for one discipline and another cover for another discipline and at no time declare that you have more than one insurance for any specific discipline, then this should not be an issue. If you have 2 identical policies then you should inform the second insurer of the existence of the first.

All the cheap polices I know of are "last resort". This can be a right hassle if you have to make a claim, because your insurer will insist on seeing all your other policies - household, etc - to check that you aren't already covered in some way. That's the last thing you need in a fraught situation. BASC insurance, on the other hand, is first resort. If you have a valid claim, they will handle it as the sole point of contact. If there are any dealings to be done with other insurance companies, they will do so without bothering you.

God forbid you ever need to claim on your insurance but when you need to, you really need it to be the best there is - so don't just buy on price.
