Way too young... RIP young man.

The throttle has always gone both ways and its impossible to explain to those that dont have it in them.

The number of times i told myself.. Right take it easy, no speeding kissing the kids before heading off... 5 minutes later you look down and your hitting well into three figures..

Sold all my bikes as figure ill never be mature enough to be sensible.

I wont own one again.

Thoughts to the loved ones Scott leaves behind.. Very sad

Aye, 22 of them in the fleet.

1974 900SS Bevel, RH gearchange, never registered and raced by my brother in production and Battle of the Twins.

851 Tricolore Strada.

851Tricolore Kit “S”, came from Ducati New York, unregistered with the engine never having turned a wheel until in my hands. Blast round the local roads on slicks was very entertaining.

888 Luchinelli Replica, never raced, used once for the 1999 Goodwood Festival of speed, actually road registered. Came with the complete factory spares kit.

888 SP4S, bought from John Hackett at Ducati Coventry last year.

888 SP5

916 SPS, my first modern bike after the 900SS Bevel, a fair difference.

998R, unregistered, bought in 2002, the last one available in the UK.

Desmosedici D16RR, ridden all of 30 yards, Ducati Glasgow’s workshops into the van and several laps of the 400metre track at the 2011 Grampian Transport Museum Motorcycle Convention, 16 miles total..

Ducati SuperMono, No. 001 – 2010, built by Alistair Wager using new SuperMono spares.

Ducati 1098R Bayliss Rep., 2009.

Triumph T150, Triumph T160, T160 based Legend, built by Les Williams.

Rob North Trident with a 970cc engine from Jack Shemans, ex. Triumph race engineer with Les Williams. Raced by myself in open class and classics.

MV Agusta 750 F4 d’ Oro, Mondial Piega, Aprillia RSV SP, Bimota V Due (fuel injection), Thruxton 500 class winning ex works Velocette Venom Clubman as raced by Cecil Sandford, Vic Willoughby and Rex Avery.

Suzuki 250 X7, raced by me in the Avon production series.

A very nice collection you have

1098R is a nice bike . . . . I took one out on a test ride a few years back, would have loved it but far too expensive.
The trade in for my spotless ZX10R was a joke.

Seem's quite common among us shooters, to be into or was into bikes, only problems for me are the weather and finding time. When we were allowed handguns I could roll the two things together by riding to the range, don't feel inclined to ride with a rifle slung over my back. Current bikes are:-
ZX6
ZZR1100
916 Ducati
Aprillia mille R
1956 NH350 Ariel
1956 Ariel sqare four, part rebuilt project
1971 TR6 triumph, part rebuilt project,
Sold a heap of others 6 years ago when we moved and didn't have room for them all. Have bought some land ajoining my new property and trying to get the old brick shed on it rebuilt into a workshop, so I can start collecting again, or should I just get on with what I have. Roll on retirement!!!

Bikes

My last one !, i sold last year and the urge never hit me this year!

I know its still in the blood!, I was down at Brighton at the "Brightonia" and sat with some friends in the Grand watching the bikes go by! Kept losing the conversation as another BUTE went by!!!:)  :D

I love bikes but just cant justify having one. Sold my last one a Honda Goldwing 1.8 in 2006 and have missed it ever since. Traveled all over Europe on bikes, did MontiCarlo in 2001 over the Swiss Alps and circumnavigated Spain over 3 weeks in 2003. Must admit I sort of switched to tourers arround 95 or I would have done myself some serious damage but still found that I could have fun with the shaft drive jobbies.

Cadex,

A significant model in Ducati history is the 1098R, the very last 8 valve belt driven WSB homologation special, sell the wife and get one to keep as eventually they'll be up with the first of them, the 851 Tricolores.

I know I might make a lot of people angry, but I don't hate bikes I just hate the idiots that ride them. Now I'm not saying that everyone who rides them are idiots, far from it. But there seems to be a disproportionate number of bikers who seem to think it's perfectly okay to dodge about behind you and overtake in some very risky places.
Let me tell you my story, it's quite quick.
Coming back from tip, doing my bit of recycling come round a corner and bang. Motorcyclist hits me head on. Luckily he survived which is more than can be said for his BMW bike and my Nissan Navara. Both written off. If he had been killed he would have left not only a large scar in his family but in my head too. This was 3.5 yrs ago and just the other day I was thinking about it as I passed the spot and it still brings me to tears to think what very nearly happened that day.
That is just not fair.
You cannot drive in a car the way that bikes do. If you want to race then you should go down a track. Not on public roads. There have already been admissions on here of three figure speeding.
I've been scared and there's no amount of sorry saying that will help.
I consider foolish bike riding a serious selfish crime

I have had many bikes,, I`ve had a clearout recentley and am left with just a few scooters and the beemer, got rid of the rat bike, the gsxr1100f, the KTM 640 supermoto etc etc.

I also put my two sons on the road on two wheels to teach them roadcraft and how to deal with ignorant deadly car drivers. One now drives a car and is still biking, the other only runs bikes and is president of an MC support club.

I think there are many people driving cars that think they can drive the way bikes do...

Theres a thread going at the moment about chipping and remapping to get more power out of a car..

Believe me , there are faaaaar more idiot car drivers on the road than bike riders, fools who have no idea that that they lack the skills to drive fast.

I appreciate that there will always be idiots on our roads regardless of there mode of transport. However for most of us getting even close to a moderately powered sports bike is impossible and would require a seriously expensive supercar.
1% of all road traffic and 20% of all fatalities kinda says it all. Now not all of those fatalities are the bikers fault but bikers don't seem to be helping themselves either. Inappropriate clothing being the most obvious, shortly followed by safe over taking and then kinda sticking to speed limits. I'm no angel in my car but reckless speed kills. I work next to a road where bikers come round a corner then there's a 1/4 mile straight over the brow of a hill. They open up and I know because I've spoken to one of them that 140mph is possible and has been achieved.
As a car driver I am forced to wear a seat belt, I think it is high time that bikers are forced to wear leathers. Different grades depending on what your riding. Learner (upto 125) lower grade i.e. cheaper. Full license (125 and over) top grade
And by the way I had a good friend and talented stone mason die on a bike.
