Anyone use a GPS Hunting Dog Tracking System

I use the garmin astro 220 with the dc30 collar of tracking deer with my dog that has gone into thick pine trees.
It works well and withy the map you can tell where the position of the dog and what it is doing. well worth the money if a guest shoots a stag and wounds it!!

Hi all,
FYI.
The Garmin unit is illegal here in Germany as it uses a semi emergency frequency like road gritter comms use. (anybody seen a road gritter in the UK? ha)

I have the DC 30. The DC40 collar can be used with the same GPS as the DC30 collar.
There is a new Garmin GPS tracker on the market. I've seen the advert but its not in the shops here yet. Of course its about £100 more than the normal model.

Dwight, as you live in the USA you can get the American model of Amazon. Cheaper there than the Swedish model.

Hi Guys

Educate me.
I thought that there was a problem with licencing this gear as the signals upset the emergency services.

Evening Kit,

You may well be right but I would not know whom to ask.

Have seen advertisments for UK devices so I guess some are allowed.

Hello.

Do you still have the contact pro?
I use it here in Sweden on my boar hunting dog.
They were first imported from the US a few years ago. The powers that be decided they could not be licenced for use here because the worked on the wrong radio wave length and by using them here would cause planes to fall out of the sky ,ambulances to crash and the world come to a sudden stop  . So Garmin made a version for the Scandinavien market that is the same wave lenght as our hunting radios.
You can get the US version fron amazon.com. there are two types of sender. The best one is the collar type .The one that goes in a harness on the dogs back has a habit of the antenna snapping off.
Should work in the UK ok I think you would just have to put in the map.

Hello: do you still have the contact pro?

Sorry to hear.
My dog is now old and deaf, trying to get my old contact pro working as he wonders off and can’t call him.
Signal between the transmitter and receiver seems to be very weak. Cannot work out why.
