Are We Boycotting Wildcat Moderators?

i have a wild cat moderator but will never buy from them again.<i think its called being shafted ,sell on the premis that parts easily available then stick it to the customer. a perfect british company !>

Surly if a part wears on the mod then an RFD should be able to obtain the spare part for you and when collecting you hand over the worn out part, assuming it is not the part with the serial number on.
However the sooner mods are off ticket the better.

That’s all well and good if…
a) you can afford to have individual mods for each rifle and b) your happy and can afford to replace a mod with new when you change calibre etc

The main draw for me to wildcat was the ability to use one mod on multiple rifles, which I still currently do, but going through a changes of calibre atm means I now can’t buy the parts to use my current mods on the new rifle

Having emailed wildcat over the weekend about my predicament and the possibility of ordering a new mod, they’ve said they hope to be back to selling spares sometime in the near future all going well
Have all your calibres thread cut the same and get 1 x30 cal mod and bobs your fanny problem sorted.

At one point i had 3 rifles and 1 mod.

Sadly that isn’t anywhere near efficient, run a 30cal mod on a 17 or 204 is pretty pointless (from experience btw having done the very thing you speak of) add to that the hassle and time of having rifles all sent off to be screwcut

Modular mods are a brilliant thing for a lot of people and to lose that in the wildcat is very disappointing, just because something doesn’t suit your needs doesn’t mean it’s silly or time wasting, takes me less than a minute to swap thread bridge and baffle in my evo

i think wildcat have done the buyers of their moderators a great DIS-service, . personally i have always found the moderator leaves my ears ringing after use so wear hearing defenders as well .never ever had this problem with my ase utra jet z , you live and learn .if it sounds too good to be true it probably is .

I bought a new wildcat evo and new rifle on Saturday, tried to trade in a sl5 with the old rifle but they said the mod was worthless (not had 1000 rounds through) ,can you get parts for the sl5 because it no longer fits any of my rifles, I also have a stalon x108 and last time I asked no parts were available for that !! That’s all 3 of my mods with no parts available and the wildcat was the cheapest of the three

Other mod manufacturers like DPT sell spare baffles - either to extend the mod (it is a modular moderator - the baffles stack together), or replace burnt out baffles.

Jackson rifles (the distributer)will swap the thread on an sl5 for about £40. I need to get one done myself. I’ll give them a call tomorrow to confirm.

assuming firearms licensing have no objection to me keeping an extra mod I’d be interested in getting that done, its worth next to nothing as it is

Would not go out of my way to buy any UK made shooting products. They are usually the same price or often more expensive than imported makes from the EU or USA and often don't perform as well.

ASE UTRA probably make the best moderators, in terms of the weight/price/size and sound moderation compromise, with their SL5i series being my choice.

No dissasembly or cleaning required! :thumb:
ASE = bomb proof
DPT = very light but maybe not as robust
Both work well.
