Arken Optics name change - kind of

Arken Optics have split their digital scope business and their glass scope business into two separate companies
The glass scope business will continue as Arken Optics, but the digital scope business which currently covers the Arken Zulus scopes, the upcoming TNC225R multispectral scope and any other new digital scope products coming along in the future, will sold by DNT (Digital and Night Technologies)
DNT have released an app (DNT Optics LLC) which combines the functions of both the existing Arken Optics app (wifi connection only for firmware updates and real time viewing of the scope display) and the Arken Ballistic app (bluetooth only connection to create and transfer ballistic tables to the scope)
The new app also removes a lot of the "glass scope only" stuff from the Arken Ballisitc app which will hopefully, make it easier to use and provide more useful features.
Since the layout of the new app is a bit different from the old app, Billy Gregor and I are working on a manual for the new app (with lots of screenshots) that hopefully will help new users and exisiting users who might want to switch from the old app
Note that the existing apps are still available and are still fully functional, so if you are comfortable with them, you don't need to do anything
However, alongside the new app, there is also a major firmware update that applies to all the existing Zulus with rangefinders (ZHD 520R and ZHD312R), but not the non rangefinder versions (Hittac CP258 and ZHD520)
This firmware update improves the NV performance of the scope with and without IR and also allows up to 5 ballistic profiles to be created in the scope by direct entry of data using the scope keypad.
At present, the new firmware allows these "on board" ballistic profiles to be created, but they are not yet activated - there will be another firmware update coming soon that will makes these "on board" ballistic profiles useable
When that is done, there will be no need for a phone or other mobile device to be able to use the ballistic calculator.
I've no doubt that will make some people happy :)
However, it will still be possible to create ballistic profiles in the app and send them to the scope

Cheers

Bruce

Looking forward to the new firmware, just to see how they've improved something that's already very good. :)

Thanks for the update Bruce. Have you had chance yet to see if the firmware update has improved the NV performance much please ?
Billy Gregor and I have been testing two different versions of the improved Nv performance firmware for a couple of months now and reporting our findings back to Arken
Both versions improved NV mode without any IR where the image was noticeably brighter and sharper - maybe not quite as good as an Alpex 4k in the same conditions, but very, very close
The second version was slightly better than the first in this respect, but when used with IR it was a bit "overcooked" with illuminated areas very bright and grainy, and darker areas of the image showing a lot of white noise so we suggested they stay with first version.
I assume that's the version incorporated into the latest firmware update, but because it also includes the new on board ballistic data entry stuff, the version number now available for download is different from the version numbers on the trial versions we were testing

Thanks for the info Bruce.

If you update with the latest firmware via the new app, DNT, you’ll need to make note of your x & y settings, as well as other settings as the new firmware resets them all. I’ve done it and can confirm it did reset the x & y etc.

I can't find DNT or Arken DNT in the App store. What is the new App called?

Just got the official announcement about the name change, plus some other interesting stuff
Dear Arken UK affiliates,

We are pleased to announce the formation of DNT Optics ( Day & Night Technologies). DNT is derived from the prior successes of Arken Zulus but with new ownership, management and team.

This change is intended to better reflect our commitment to providing innovative products and exceptional customer service for Day, Night and Thermal optics.

DNT Optics will continue to provide our customers with the quality they’ve come to expect. We thank our customers for their patience as we make this transition. We look forward to continuing to serve your needs with the same great products, services and dedication.

Important notice

Arken Optics (HK) Co., Ltd has proprietary right to both the brand DNT and Arken.

Official website of DNT Optics: https:/dntoptics.com/
DNT UK Store: https:/uk.dntoptics.com/

We will continue supplying the complete product range of Arken day scopes. The well-received Arken Zulus series will hereafter carry on as DNT Zulus with a few noticeable changes: new side cap design, inclusive of a 32GB TF card in slot, and default VCSEL 850nm IR for ZHD312R.

We adhere to consistent warranty and after sale service to any and all sold Arken units for our Arken and future DNT customers to enjoy equivalent user experience.

By launching DNT Optics, we are also pleased to introduce the DNT app that integrates scope connectivity and ballistics into one, supportive of both DNT and Arken Zulus devices. Available now on Apple Store and Google Play. Search ‘DNT Optics’and check it out.

A firmware update for ZULUS is released to enable up to 5 ballistic profiles to be stored on scope, and calculate a ballistic solution without having to keep the device connected to phone constantly. Meanwhile, there is a significant improvement of image quality for the ZULUS, esp. at dusk or when it is dark, we would suggest you to make a before and after comparison just to see how great it has become. This update will also allow Zulus to have a more accurate ballistic calculation when inclination is introduced, a feature that we believe will benefit greatly esp. for our fellow airgun users.

Just know that the update might reset your scope to default settings which may include wiping your zero profiles. So, before you upgrade the firmware, go into your zeroing reticle menu and write down the X and Y position of your reticle for each profile that you have adjusted. That way you can re-zero your ZULUS after you upgrade the firmware.

The most expected ThermNight TNC225R multispectral scope will be launched with DNT Optics. Available for order and supply from UK locally hopefully in about two weeks.

What’s coming up next with DNT Optics? We are looking at launching a series of literally game changing new products within this year, including ThermNight of 384/640 thermal sensor, 7-35x56 FFP scope with new reticle designs, clip-on night vision scope and more. Stay tuned!

Looking forward to stride forward with you in our future endeavors!

Interesting. Thanks for posting that. The link to DNT doesn't work on my MacBook, is it just me?

It works on my windows PC- and it gives the price for the upcoming multispectral TNC225R as £999.99
To give some idea of how good a deal that is, compare it to the HIK Thunder TE19 2.0 thermal scope and the new Infiray Tube TP25SE
All 3 scopes cost the same - £999.99
All three scopes use the same thermal sensor - 12 micron 256x192
The HIK uses a 19mm objective lens while TNC and Infiray use 25mm lenses
However, only the TNC include a 5-20 day/night scope with on board IR and a laser rangefinder and ballistic calculator
So basically, you're getting a £1k thermal with a 5-20 Zulus thrown in for free :D

Ceers

There is now an update to the app which activates the onboard ballistics and allows the scope to be connected to the phone by both wifi and bluetooth at the same time
If you have already downloaded the DNT app, go back to the app store and download the update

Cheers
