Beretta BRX1

Out of interest, this just appeared on a forum. I dont speak German I’m afraid so perhaps one of our resident speakers can verify but the jist of it through google translate seems to be a recall on certain serial nos on a locking and safety issue?

no reason to think this will be a permanent issue of course, just teething issues with what looks like an interesting product, tbh Ive no idea if there are even any out there yet but worth passing on for info just in case.

google translate version

The Beretta company is recalling the BRX1 bolt action rifles that have already been delivered. The cause: If the locking lever is not positioned correctly in the structurally specified catches for right or left-hand operation, the locking head may become blocked if the locking unit is not assembled correctly. The weapon cannot lock.

BRX1 SERIAL NUMBER IDENTIFICATION

All Beretta BERETTA BRX1 straight-pull repeater in calibers .308, .30-06 and .300 WM from the serial number range BX000001 to BX002247 are affected by this recall.

SITUATION DESCRIPTION BRX1

If the locking lever is incorrectly positioned in the structurally specified catches for right-hand or left-hand operation, the locking head may become blocked if the locking unit is not assembled correctly. The weapon cannot lock.

DANGER

If a cartridge is loaded from the magazine without checking the regular weapon function, there is a risk of an unintentional triggering of a shot when the cartridge is fed into the chamber.

ACTION TO BE REQUIRED ON BRX1

Please do not continue to use the affected weapons and send them back to us immediately, so that an absolutely necessary optimization can be carried out on all weapons as quickly as possible and the absolute safety of the weapon is guaranteed, even if it is used improperly! Corresponding information with an explanation of all necessary measures has already been sent directly to the gun owners concerned via the gun retailer.

Please register the return of the affected weapon on our homepage, we will then take care of everything else: www.manfred-alberts.de/rueckruf-brx/

I understand the concern about the scope mount but with over 30 years of using scoped rifles at work the only vulnerable scopes were Pecar mounted on Lee Enfied Enforcers which needed a complicated shim system to keep them zeroed. As long as your screws are tight at the right torque and on a rail or dovetail modem scope will hold zero. The user however is generally the weak link in the system! I have Blasers but when the 300win Mag barrel wears out the BRX 1 is cheaper than a re barrel

Here it is in English. Beretta has just released a safety recall regarding the BRX1 straight-pull repeater.

I got to handle one last week. Nice and cheap but not for me. I'm sticking with the eye poking Blaser R93.

I like the sound of it, if not really the look but then that's not my thing. And I was actually looking into Blasers. It's cheapish, lightish, works when it's full of mud, doesn't go bang when you drop it 10m and more features and more accurate than some 3x the price. The after market will see a thumbhole, cheek risers etc and probably different size/shape pistol grips and materials. Having saved £3,000 on the price of a Blaser I think I might go for it and bling it up later. My heavy barrelled Rem 700 was ok 20 years ago, but I feel the need for something lighter.

If only there was a 6.5 option on the initial release. I also wonder what else has to be changed for the chambering change.

The trigger removal and adjustment is a nice touch although the left to right thing I’m not sure is a big point other than if you were selling it I guess.

Hopefully the press will get hold of one and put out a review.

Regards,
Gixer
The left/right thing is a massive thing for both their manufacturing and order process and to the dealers who don’t have to carry two versions

I saw this rifle at the shooting show today, I have to say I was very impressed. The action is very slick, the stand was next to blaser and (put your knives away) I preferred the beretta’s action.

It’ll be interesting to see what it’s like long term. Given the company’s history with making military grade firearms I’d hope it is good. Really hope, I’ll be putting an order in for my .270 on Monday!

I think someone is telling pork pies🤷
Looks like it. The chap I spoke to on the stand said if I ordered soon I could expect autumn delivery for one of the 3 existing cartridge choices. Basically who knows for the next ones. It been incredibly popular apparently.

You have to wait for most new things these days. I have a gun that works, I’m happy to wait.
