Another vote for army surplus boots, good quality and a sensible price, under £100. My present pair are three years old now still waterproof, comfortable and quiet.

Dedito Moorland

May take a bit of time to break them in but superb for the terrain up here in the NW Highlands.

My go to are Lundhags professionals, brilliant boots, but totally agree with @Rasputin above about the mountaineering brands being better value and more fit for general purpose than the obsessions with “stalker specific” offerings just to be seen in the right gear.

I wrote this a few months ago. No such thing as a Best Boot. Very much depends on the user and his own particular circumstances.

When my dovre extremes finally die I will be getting some Crispi. Can't recall the product name but the ones with the integrated boot gaiter, cracking idea and looked well made

Alt berg Kidson - the first time ever I've had boots that actually fitted my wide feet - didn't know how much I was putting up with with narrow boots like Scarpa - great boots just not right for me....which leads to the crux with this thread - the boot that fits your feet is always going to be the right boot for you.

I also rate vivobearfoot forest tracker for lowland woodland stalking - like moccasins, great for creeping around woodlands.
