Best Scope Magnification for Stalking

I think a variable wich goes up to 10x - 12x is all you will ever need for deer. As I said I use 6x and for Belgian distances it's fine. I used a swar 8x50 from a friend in the Uk, when stalking with him, and it was great.
Anything abaove 10X , I think, will be hard to keep on the deer without getting seesick, after a long walk. LOL
Try to borrow a rifle with a high magnification scope for a short test. Put it on a table outside. Run up and down the stairs for a few times and get behind it straight away. Anything above 8x will be wobbling, I think.

I don't tend to feel the urge to run up and down the stairs a few times before shooting my rifle TBH. I do however like to double check the quarry that I'm about to cull for sex, quality etc. That's pretty hard if the animal is a long way away and I only have a low mag scope.
Nothing like unearthing old threads!

Yep, but after walking up a steep hill. Same problem. That was the idea.

Checking is done with binoculars. At least down here. Got a pair of old 10x40 Zeiss bino's for it. At under 700 grams, the most comfy bino's that I ever used.
