It contains ammonia to take the copper off.Original Butchers Bore Shine. There is a label on it with a warning not to inhale and use outside or in a very well ventilated room - I have no idea why I chose to take a sniff but I did and it almost took my breath away, bloody lethal stuff. Anyone else stupid enough to take a sniff?
Does Asprey have any more stock of Rangoon oil? Can Rangoon be used to lubricate?Got my last supply of Rangoon from Asprey

Young's 303 has a new formula. The original oil was dark brown. The new 303 is yellow with completely different aromaDefinitely Youngs 303, not so sure about the Condor though!
Have you used Rangoon oil? Some say it's not a lubricant, some use Rangoon as a lubricant.I haven't bought any for years, I bought a big can probably thirty years ago now, so probably the old original. My kids, now nearly 50 years old always said they know when they're home by the smell of the 303 that permeates the house. From this, you will know I live alone!!!
Yes ! How I miss my Grandad’s pipe smell.Young’s 303 and Rangoon oil, ahh this along with Condor or St Bruno pipe baccy. Heavenly…

Ah yes. I’m involved in motorcycle instruction and it’s not unknown for me to add a little bit of Castro R to the students fuel tanks before we set out for the day. At least I have the pleasure of that whiff now and again throughout the day.Castrol R
What a cherished memory to have, I’ll bet he was a proper character.Yes ! How I miss my Grandad’s pipe smell.
He used to cut a plug baccy called ‘War Horse’ flake it up in his hands and tamp it down before lighting up and giving a good impression of a British Rail ‘Deltic’ engine setting off in our front room.
Sorry.
Gone off topic remembering a great old boy (1896-1977) who spent 55 years as a miner, apart from the years 1914-1918.
Never used Rangoon oil, for years it was 303, then 3in One followed by parker hale Express Gun Oil. I use Ballistiol for wiping over the guns and riflesHave you used Rangoon oil? Some say it's not a lubricant, some use Rangoon as a lubricant.
Joined the DLI was blown up on the Somme, lost an eye - heavily injured with shrapnel. Sent back to Blighty for treatment. Year later went back to DLI who told him ‘you’ve done your bit’ so he joined the Sherwood Foresters (I think) and was back out in France just in time for Paschendale apparently. What a cherished memory to have, I’ll bet he was a proper character.

Apogies to anyone who’s annoyed I’ve gone off topic, but I’m still proud of a man who had much spirit.
I love the smell of G96 .G96 Never tried any of the others mentioned above but this stuff takes me back to the hunting camp in Ontario in the sixties.
Problem with Duckhams green that had a high water content hence the 'mayonaise' in rocker covers.AH Duckhams.
