Best swivels for a sling?

This may be the daftest question ever but as I had a strap snap once years ago,(admittedly not the swivels fault) and a dented scope, I figured it was worth asking.

I bought a niggeloh sling recently and I thought it would come ready to clip on but there is no swivels with it to attach on to the rifle.

Is there any brand particularly better than the other? Or are they all much of a muchness?

Thanks!

Personally, sako or tikka by a long way, they are all I have ever used.

That’s the ones I was trying to remember. I was googling Mike Myers, knew that wasn’t right 😂

Talon stainless if you can get them
All the talon stuff seems to be out of stock but I’ll keep looking. That was the brand I remember reading somewhere else that came recommended.
When I bought a Niggeloh sling I attached it with a set of Recknagel detachable swivels. They are well made and very well finished.

New make to me but I’ll have a look! Sounds interesting

I struggled about 3 yes ago. So it's obviously not changed.
I am using grovetec as well but this are quick release. They are good though. But standard ones I would want the talons as they don't rust and squeak.

I use these and rate them highly:

Sadly they are discontinued but occasionally old new stock comes up. I like their simplicity and that the sling snugs-up to the swivel stud.

Thanks guys! I’ve ordered a couple of talon but looks like a few weeks to arrive.

Anyone heard of Graplan? Amazon do them on prime which would keep me ticking over until they arrive but seem quite cheap at £8

I’m also looking at Recknagel swivels for a Niggeloh sling that I’ve ordered but hasn’t yet arrived.

Is there an obvious way to work out whether I need the 20mm (Euro-style) loop option or the 25.4mm (US-style) loop before it does?

I can’t find any info on the width of the end of the sling anywhere online.

Worst case, I’ll wait for the sling to arrive and measure it but I’d like to get ahead of the game with the swivels if I can.

I have two niggleoth slings , a backpack and a titan 2 backpack and the straps that attach to the swivel measure 20mm. Im not sure if all their other slings are the same though.

Hi StephenJD,
Both of the Niggeloh slings my wife and I have use 20mm swivels and most of the ones listed on the Niggeloh website indicate the same.

As mentioned by @NullMac the Recknagel swivels come with either 3mm or 3.5mm pins plus they also have two different sizes for where they fit on the stud that is screwed into the stock. These are 6mm or 8mm.

My suggestion is to measure your stud size and the size of the hole in the stud (metric drill bits make this easy) and order the Euro version which I believe fits the 20mm slings. From memory the US version is for 25mm slings. 20230405_185814.webp
