bipod recommendations

I can’t “recommend” this, however, I have been looking at the Tricer rp bipod. It seems really versatile at a good price. I can’t seem to see much about them though

I have used a NorneHunt bipod and it is light and can be attached and removed quickly. That being said it does have a small amount of play in the bipod when mounted due to the quick release and not being able to choose how tight you want it to lock onto the picatinny, the amount of play is not noticed so I am not to worried about it. I have a TierOne bipod as well that has the quick release on it and that fits the picatinny much better as you can set how tight it locks on but it is a bit more heavy. For stalking I use the NorneHunt and the Range I use the TierOne

Harris on a pic rail with a QD attachment makes all the sense in the world. Had a spartan and hated it. As other have said with the emergence of quad sticks the only time I use them is for plinking and hill stalking.

Spartan, they just make sense. Quick to deploy, light enough that you'll not notice you've got in when not in use. Mine lives on my bino harness. Doesn't interfere, unbalance the rifle or get snagged when not in use as its neatly packed away.

Optional leg length etc can have one bipod body and alternate leg lengths.... one bipod serves multiple rifles, just buy the adapters...they can get flack for certain issues but thats probably more down to user error, mines never failed me yet! And its seen a fair amount of work.

Used for both deer (lowland and on the hill) and foxing, easy to deploy in the pitch black as well.

Steady enough to shoot gongs out at decent ranges!

And all things considered, not bad money wise 👌🏽

I really think Spartan are missing a trick not doing a 13.5-27” bipod similar to the Harris but they’re into the Spartan springbok territory at that point and it’s not the same thing.

9-13” Harris in spring. 13.5-27” for summer or heather ect. They just work. I do take the quad sticks if the time isn’t available.

Harris swivel all day long, have used both the short and the longer version for donkeys years, never let me down with quality build and fast to deploy... money well spent.

PS put a dedicated stud on.

Wil the hawke attach to sling stud on my stock?
Or do I need to add a mount
You could use the NorneHunt Picatinny, it has a sling stud on the rear of the picatinny, you would have to drill into the stock with one of the provided screws with the picatinny. I have a synthetic T3X stock and it worked well.

Used Harris for years and tried various others in attempt to get away from the weight and annoying back digging crap of the Harris.. The best was Spartan but it had 2 main issues that I was not willing to compromise on, so I went back to the Harris.

The twisty leg adjustment on various bipods including the Spartan is absolute tripe. Pain in the proverbial. And the legs kept closing when you lifted up the rifle when prone to pan to a deer that had moved for exmaple. They would catch on vegetation and close. Noisy and then more movement required to put right.

Move forward and Spartan released the Pro Hunt TAC. This bipod fixes all the previous issues. Quiet and easy and reliable leg adjustment and the legs now lock open and stay that way until you choose you want them closed. It is literally the perfect bipod now for my needs.

Sure, if you are literally going to be static and shooting at multiple targets for a period of time, then I would use the Harris but otherwise there is no other situation where I am without my Pro Hunt TAC. Easily fits in the pocket as well. Get the longer legged version similar height to the 9-13 Harris for field work. Shorter one if Bench resting but then you would not be using a removable bipod.

If you have a play with the nut on it, you can probably adjust it to suit a bit better. I spent around half hour playing with it and got it pretty much bang on. Happily use mine out to a good range although whatever I stalk with is whatever I use for load development/plinking and the rest of it

Thanks, I will give that a go.

I rarely use a bipod so ditched my Harris for a Javelin, however i do regret is not buying the longer version.
However I was on a guided day on hinds on a well known Highland estate a couple of years ago where I was berated by the guide for using a "useless new fangled device" and not to bring it back again! That despite the spartan not losing me any opportunities...

Shot 5 stags this weekend, can’t figure out how!!! It’s a rifle from 1982, it’s got a wooden stock, it’s not pillar or glass bedded, doesn’t have a rail, no adjustable cheek piece, fixed power scope, double stack magazine, a leather sling, and no bipod, just a rucksack/daypack to shoot over when laying down.

It does have a mod now, due to chronic tinnitus; but by god I wish it didn’t!!

The added benefit of using a day sack is that coming over a crest to set up for a shot, nudging the bag in front of you is less conspicuous to the deer than a white face (assuming you are white) and a rifle with a bipod - the bag takes more of a natural part of the crest appearance, and you slide the rifle over without showing your face.

Have you seen the NorneHunt Sticks? - they go down to sitting and kneeling
